Default Nitrous Ring Gap

I just found out what my Engine builder intalled my rings at .16 to .18 i believe and from what ive been reading thats a little tight for nitrous. I have a fully Forged roatating Assembly. It was my fault because i didnt tell him i was ganna spray it because i didnt know when he built it. Do you guys think a 150 shot would be ok? 200 Maybe?

I am gonna assume you mean .016-.018. I would want to be at more like .020 on the bottom ring and .024 on the top. I think youll be fine though for a 150 shot.

Actually you want the bottom ring gap wider than the top.

I would do the top at 20 and the bottom at 24

Interesting. The build sheet for my LME built 347 (spec'd for 200-250 nitrous) has my rings at .027 top and .020 second.

Thats right, my last small block (not ls1) was built .024 top, .026 bottom.

The reason you want the bottom slightly bigger than the top, is to ensure that any blow-by (there is always blow-by) will get evacuated from between the two rings, and not build up too much pressure, which would lead to ring land failure.
