Default How much is enough??

I have a 72 Chevelle w/a sb 383 w/forged internals and I think around 11:1 cr. The previous owner was going to run n2o so it has basically everything set up for it. I have a 2nd fuel pump, and switch in my car to set timing back and all. I'm basically wondering about the largest I can go shot wise. I was talking with a shop that has done work on the car, and they said I shouldnt go higher than around 150 - 175shot. I was thinking if the motor was built I would be able to a run larger shot than that. I dont really know much about n2o so Im just looking for some info.

The motor should be able to handle 200+, but there is a big learning curve to nitrous tuning. Start out at a 100 shot, work your way up as you become more familiar with spraying the car.

Forged internals can mean anything from a set of TRWs to JEs or Wisecos, or maybe just forged pistons and not rods, or stock crank, etc. Know which internals it has? That plays a big role aside from just having "forged internals"

He is correct on the true meaning of forged internals. it seems for nitrous, having forged pistons is the key for a mild nitrous set-up. cast and hyper pistons just cant withstand much detonation. Nobody wants to detonate their motor, but sometimes when you are tuning a new set-up it may happen.

Like stated above you need to know the specifics of the motor.

What pistons?
What Rods?
What Crank?
Does it have splayed caps?
What rings and ring gap?
