Default how much nitrous can hypereutectic pistons handle?

Well, how much nitrous do you think i can put on hypereutectic pistons? Right now before the nitrous it has around 400hp on a .30 bored over 350. It has torquey cam, rated from 1500-5500 RPM, I am going to have a window switch from 3k-6k, and a very nice progressive controller to help with the hard enguagement. I would like to keep this engine intacked for a little while at least, so what would be a "safe" shot for me (1-2 visits to the drag strip each month). I will start at 100shot just for testing, then work up. What should i work up to? 125, 150, 175, more?

one more question for you guys, I have this motor in a Pontiac Fiero (sideways mounted engine) I can already get the front tires off the ground without nitrous and I am expecting to run high 11s in the quarter mile before nitrous. I have a dual plane manifold, with hard acceleration will there be an uneven flow of nitrous and fuel to one side of the engine if i use a plate system? Thank you in advance.

in the books i've read they say that it's the frequency of detonating on n2o that causes them to shatter. they all recomend that when useing n2o to have forged piston's. there are lots of guy's on this board sprayin 200+, but if you detonate it will be toast. talk to mike@icon autosports, he sprayed close to 300. pistons were ok but the ringlands let go(rods were also s-shaped). make sure the tune is nice and fat/good fuel system and a 150 should be no problem.

Here's what 285rwhp shot did to the ringland, and ensuing melt down. Now this was after 200 sprayed passes though, and more of a tune thing that finally killed it. Keeping the torque in check down low in the rpms will go a long way in livability, and/or dual staging/progressing.

How did you come up with a bigger shot on wet then dry? Why not the same?

I say if you want it to last awhile don't go over 1/2 the power the motor makes N/A, unless you constantly tune and datalog to make changes for the weather ect....

Ringlands are the weak link. The car itself can handle 600 + rwhp if introduced correctly. Ask Robert56.

Seriously though, you could easily put 150rwhp shot of nitrous through your car if done correctly. I have that going through mine right now. It makes just over 400rwhp on motor and 560rwhp on the 150 shot..........its actually a 175 shot, but it equates to 150rwhp to the wheels. So go with the safe 150 shot and add the safety measures like window switch, etc. You'll be rolling fat and safe with that ****!!!!
