o2 sims and nitrous tuneing??? help..............
I had this in the ecu dept. but nobody can help yet, so I'll try it here,
ok, let me see if I got this right first, there's 4 o2 censors, headers, and cats, right?, I just bought a set of headers and have to swap them into the new headers, but I also have the stock cats, and want to iether get high flow cats or o2 sims(w/straight pipe), if I have the o2 sims on the rear o2 censors, I'm wondering if it will not let the computer do the proper tuneing when the nitrous is used, is this true?, what to do??????, thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!
edit: btw, I do not have copious amounts of money to spend on computer testing equipment and lap top and there's no dyno I can get to at all!

Good God Almighty, do not use the factory O2 sensors to tune your nitrous setup!!!!!!! The sensors are not accurate and they are calibrated for an A/F ratio of 14.7:1. With that ratio and nitrous, you will go boom quicker than you could say 'oops'.
Well...Im not sure of the question. But heres some options.
It would be best not use CATS. You will get more power and Ive seen many people have CAT overheating problems when using nitrous. If you use offroad pipes in place of CATS use O2 sims on the rear O2 plugs or delete them with a custom program. It will not affect the way your computer does business and will not throw eveything out of wack.
What LS1290 was sayin is after install of nitrous its best not to judge how your Af ratio is reading the front O2 sensors since they are not very accurate. Best to take it to a dyno with wideband O2 capabilties to read exact AF ratios. Adjust and tune your nitrous kit that way.
If you have to use CTAs everything still apllies...but you will not use O2 sims of course.

After reading again it seems as though you may have the idea the computer will tune for AF with nitrous. Not correct. You will have to adjust your setup to get the correct Af and if you run a very large shot...timing as well.
If its a dry kit adjust the AF with a MAF translator or custom program.
If wet kit use different size jets to adjust for Af...but the wet kit manufacturers recommendations are usually on.

tell me what you think of this, get the rear o2 sims and put the straight pipe in place of the cats, but put an after market 02 cencor in and run them to a guage and then I'll have some accurate clue as to how its running, how'z that sound, cause I cannot get to a dyno at all
Well...that really no better than your stock 02 sensor. They do have wideband 02 systems that you can purchase and install to "street tune" your car. But they are pricey. I think I heard somone say they found one for as little as $500 but I have not verified. Most are waaaay over that.
If you arent running a huge shot...you could get away with using Atap or scanmaster to read your O2s. But its certainly no guarentee. If you do it that way just look for atleast .900 millivolts on the 02 readings.
Or...learn how to read plugs. But you must spray for gear or two and immediately shutdown. Then read the plugs. Do a search on google for plugs and it will show you pics of what to look for.
You could use the ATAP to read 02s and back up your finding by reading the plugs.
Any other ideas guys?
