Default First test of the nitrous and I ran into a problem..

I installed a 125hp jet for the first test and it looked like it was going to work. The first run I brought it up to 3K rpm in 2nd gear and hit it. It blew away the tires right away so I let off. Then I took it up to 3K rpm in 3rd and tried it again. This time was awesome, tons of torque and it seemed to run real smooth.

Now the problem. When I was coming back, I did the same run in 3rd gear and it seemed to surge real bad. 3-4K rpm it pulled real hard, then it died off, then it seemed to kick in again at about 5K rpm.

To give you more details about my setup: Single nozzle and I rotated the MAF clockwise so it would hit the wires better. Any problem with doing that?
What do you think is wrong?

MAY have something to do with the MAF. The best advice I can give is check the bottle pressure, and if you feel yourself losing that kick let off the nitrous.... There is a chance your MAF isn't see'in the nitrous and it is dumping lean into your motor.

Sorry, wish I could help more

Yes, a ZEX dry shot.

Bottle was full and heater had been on for a while.

personally, anything over 100 I would go wet. I'm content with my Dry 100 though.

Go out and try it again, it may have been a one time thing, or take the nozzle out, shoot it into the air, and make sure your getting a steady shot out of it

and do you have a 99 or 00? Those only have little baby 26# injectors.

I know you said the bottle was full, but weight it again just to be sure. It sounds like low-bottle-surging.

I had the bottle filled right before I installed it and it weighs a lot more than it was when it was empty so I don't think there is a problem there. And I checked for leaks but I teflon taped all the connections so nothing was leaking out.

The car was tuned (it's an '01) and the timing is retarted 4 degrees. It has all bolt ons but heads, w/ stock internals. Should I be aiming the nozzle at the 2 MAF wires on one side, or in the middle of all 3 of them? The nozzle is pretty close to the MAF.

Move the nozzle back from the MAF. You will have freezing problems if its too close. I've frozen the MAF on my V6 before. It was a pretty similar experiance to what you have described.

Haven't had the A/F checked with the nitrous yet, just finished installing it yesterday. What's the easiest/cheapest way to get it checked? Put it on a dyno?

I don't know, I don't have a guage. But the heater had been on for ~25mins before I used it and it was hot. But it works now so all is good.

You could go to a dyno with a wideband and have it done but I would just buy a wideband. Not knowing what your A/F is is just asking for trouble. I wouldn't spray anymore untill you get it checked.
