Default Possible to pull timing via resistor?

So I've read that people are advancing their timing by using a resistor in the IAT sensor. Would it be possible to put a different resistor in there and PULL timing? I would buy the program and such to pull it another way ( a much better way) but this may help the people that dont have that much money to spend and still would like to pull some timing to be safe. Thanks.

It will work. I'm unsure what resistance you would need. Would be easy to experiment with if you have the ability to log and a Radioshack nearby.
