Default Everyone with an MSD window switch come in

I want to install an MSD window switch and the instuctions don't say how to intall them on our cars. I emailed MSD and they said I have to send it back to them to get it altered. I was wondering if everyone else did the same or is there some other way to install it because they want $35 with a 2 week turn around. TIA

Hey, I heard the same thing about the window switch and called MSDs tech line and spoke to them personally. They told me that there is no need to send it back for the alt. if you are only using it for NOS. They said that the short amount of time it will be used will not harm your computer. Hope this helps. I have a 97 C5 and I did NOT have to send it in to work for mine. In the process of testing tach signals when I was designing my new window switch it flashed across me when I was hooking up the prototype that "OH Yeah, MSD said there is a 5v square wave signal comming off that, I gotta check this out!" So I pulled out my oscilloscope out into the install bay and looked at the tach signal comming out of the computer. It was a very nice and perfectly clean square wave signal but it was NOT 5v. It was a 13.# volt level signal. Now I would come strait out and say MSD is liars and thiev's, BUT I have not had a chance to look at some newer year vehicles to back up back up my claim. My 97 LS1 is not 5v but 99 or 01 and up computer may be different. If anyone is around the Chicago land or NW IN area that would be willing to let me put my scope on their car to check this let me know. I would like to be able to look at a couple cars from each year to make the claim. I8RICE, I see you live in Homer Glen. Thats Chicago land isn't it? I would be more then happy to look at your car and let you know and show you where to hook it up. Let me know if you are interested.

ls1Formula99, the only line that is hooked to the computer is the tach line, and it only reads the tach signal. Doesn't turn anything off or on in the computer. Just to double check, is that exactly what they told you? Not questioning you, just MSD.
