Default Nitrous Tune ??

Hey guys,

I am running a cam and nitrous now and I am about to add heads so I will need a new tune. Do I have to compromise my tune because I run nitrous. In other words, I think nitrous tunes are fairly conservative, so is my NA tune not maxed to its full potential in order to be safe for nitrous ? I hope this makes sense

That doesn't make sense, but I wouldn't spray on the new heads without an update. Nitrous tunes usually retard you a few degrees depending on the size of shot which will slightly drop your NA power.

I don't know why people have to be such smart asses. Probablly for the same reasons one would put "smooth bellows" in their sig mod list.

Your post and question made perfect sense.

And to answer your question, there is much more to a tune than just spark advance(timing). But your essentially right, you will have to pull timing compromising your N/A tune.

To get around this, you can get a timing tuner from places like harrisspeedworks that only pull timing when your on the juice. This would let you get the best from your n/a tune and your n20 tune.

My humble opinion from the dirty dirty

LOL...I agree. Joblo...watch what advice you give out here please. If you arent 100% absolutely sure and been there and done that....then please temper your responses.

As Sobake said...the Timing Tuner will work. It pulls timing only when spraying. MSD now has the Timing Twister that essentially does the same.

Then...if you are getting retuned...talk to your tuner about fancy ways to get around this with a tune. There are ways to do that have been discussed here before. But the tuner really needs to have a grasp of the car and tuning capabilities.
