Re: timing on big shot? it's 2* per 50 hp. work your way up man, even those of us that know what we're doing start small and work out all the details. otherwise, you'll be cleeaning up that 408 w/ a mop.
Re: timing on big shot? I think the only way a 408 LQ4 block could survive a 400hp shot is to:
- a full block fill
- forged internals ; crank, rods, arp rod and main bolts
- nice thick heads gasket( 0.072" ) with arp head stubs
- ceramic coated nitrous pistons
- plugs at least 5 steps colder
- plenty of tuning
The amount of timing to pull is generally 2 to 3 degree per 100hp shot. A good starting point would be about 10 degrees and you can adjust from there.
