Question Internal Purge

Also known as "Booming the motor", most probably going to set it up for my dry system. For you dry guys, would this be an issue? We all know sufficient fuel would be added to accomodate the spray through the MAF. Has it been done, any extra precautions need to be taken?

Im not a fan of doing it. However as long as you do it during your burn out and make sure to folllow through with the burn out alittle longer after you purge you should be fine. With a dry kit atleast you do not have to worry about needing the vacumme to pull the mixture of fuel and nitrous into the chambers. However you still need to worry about loading the motor up. Following through with the burn out should prevent that.

So if done that way I should only purge while under load, not in a neutral rev and the reasoning behind it is that there is not a deep enough vac?

Anytime you go to the track you will see some old school nitrous guy over there poping his throttle to burb the nitrous while just sitting still. So im not saying it can not be done. Its does set up apotential for a back fire though.

With a EFI car and a dry system I think just burping the throttle like tat will potentially make a small lean spike and then the computer will respond by dumping fuel. If the engine RPM is not up the car my bog on trying to digest the fuel that was just added.

I know that Robert had made a remark that if a dry systems solenoid was stuck or leaking that the car would retain a higher rpm and add fuel accordingly, I figured that I could use the cars ability to interpret the NO2 and purge through the motor. I'll have to make sure that I only do it while under a load though.

Ive seen a guy blow the back end of his intake on his stang while purging during his burnout......but i also have a buddy who used to purge his camaro by hold the throttle at 3k rpms and hitting the spray really quickly a few times, it never failed for him.

I don't plan on holding the damn purge down, its only a quick push of the button and that should clear a line that small with ~900-1000 psi. Again this is a dry shot so I see the risk of a backfire to be minimal though still a risk nonetheless.
