Default First post...need help with nozzle placement

Hi everyone.... Bone stock 97 C5 with stock air box
My first post so be easy on me guys.....Im going nuts using the search....tons of info on the board..Im having a 125 dryhit installed at the moment and was looking at where the shop placed my nozzles....I forgot my camera...The nozzles were placed in the side of the air box opposite off eachother and I seem to be getting the impression that this is a not a good spot...It will be lean....

I will go be at the shop on Monday to take a pic....

This is a pic I stole from another thread but I have a nozzle on each side just like this ...Thanks you

Welcome Jamie,

With dual nozzles, they should be mixing/merging in the middle of the airbox and getting sucked in, check your AFR when you test it, you will probably be Ok. With your 97 you have the 28 pound injectors (better for dry than the 99-00 26 pound injectors) as well the better fuel system (regulated and a return line to tank). Start small 50 shot, to test the system, then go 100, then 125 ensuring the AFR is under 12. Be sure to use a colder plug (TR6's).

Search Robert56 and go to his site, he may have a pic of a C-5 and a stock airbox on his his site.

My site will be back up later today. Anyway, on my '97 and stock box running dual nozzles in that location did cause a lean condition. The air dynamics is the real culprit. Most of the spray ends up being diluted and/or misses the MAF wires completely and thus a poor reading and lean condition. Though, the current best/easiest cure is to run a Harris Interface, and just dial in the a/f you want, it also has capability to pull timing. Aside from that, moving nozzles to the neck about 3 to 4 inches, which has been proved to work, and aimed at the MAF will also dial in a good/safe a/f. Really a WB and a/f reading need to be done to know for certain on any method, even a wet hit. watch for fueling issues above about 450rwhp, the injectors run out first, then after 500/550rwhp the pump may run out. though the '97 does have the good fuel system and I have added this system to my '02 and have seen north of 600rwhp with larger injectors

So Robert with that said, given the choice between the new Interface and that thing you can strap to your MAF which one would you suggest. From what I have been reading you push the interface and I am beginning to think I should side with you on that choice. Sorry for the hijack.

I was a major proponent of the nozzle tunning method to get a good a/f ratio with altering the n/a tune (nothing strapped to the MAF, just nozzles real close to the MAF wires for a good read, as MAF reads temp basically). Now with the tech of the Interface, it's really a no brainer for all of us. It works for nozzles before or after the MAF and DP Dry also. Even the DP wet hits can benefit as well as the standard wet hits. It's the bomb for tuning a dry and a/f. So yes, it's my choice and I do have one for my DP Dry. The $$ spent is well worth it IMO.
