Default Octane boost w/ Dry shot

Ordered my dry kit, and was wondering what options i have as far as boosting the octane during the spray. That was the one draw back about not going with the wet kit w/ dedicated fuel cell. The trick is not as easy as using 100 octane, because I don't spray that much and would like to run pump gas during NA and then some octane booster that is activeted during the spray. I thought of 2 ways.

1) dedicated fuel cell somehow activates during the spray. It seems like you could put some sort of T beak in the fuel line that is electronically activated and would switch to the dedicated during nitrous runs. Either mixes the fuel before the injector, or runs entirely off the dedicated during the N2O application.

2) Some sort of meth kit?

Please Advise Dry Kit guys.

Was gonna start at 75, and work up to 150 possibly. I know it's overkill, but was just wondering.

I spray 150 on 93 octane pump gas.
No problems, or stutttttteeeerrrrring...

the car is tuned also for the nitrous injection

But I would say you are safe up to 100 dry no problems on pump gas. 93 if you can.

and I dont recommend meth... LOL
its addicting from what I see on TV...

Ive been wondering about this too. This is not a new idea but I would like to trigger the injector signals from the factory PCM to an injector driver box and run a separate fuel rail with separate injectors for the high octane gas supplied from a stand alone filled with C16. Liked a piggy pack setup that turns on with the nitrous(Kinda like having octane on demand setup with the ability to tune). I can see this being too many $$ though. But hey, There's nothing wrong with dreaming about it.

I think the T break would be a more viable option than running another fuel rail. Why wouldn't this work?

I think it would work OK IMHO at the track if you didn't have a return style fuel system from the main tank on the fuel rail. on the street it would take a few seconds to purge or mix the high octane gas with the pump gas in the rail (On the street you never know when you may need to hit it and would like to have the fuel rail purged with race gas quickly). If I were to do this I would like to use the main tank fuel pump with the stand alone pump( Not one or the other). A few other things to think about is if you have a return style fuel setup on the main tank and mixing both fuels in the fuel rail you will be sending some of your expensive race fuel back to the main tank. also are both your fuels compatible and mixing evenly? Sounds like a cool idea that someone or maybe you will work out though. BTW, the Octane On Demand idea (O.O.D.) is from an article I read somewhere.

We might have the answer to your needs in the very near future. I figured this might be a good time to let the cat out of the bag. We are in the final stages of development on a nitrous specific Methonal stand alone kit. I'm not going to get into the specifics right now, but i guarantee you it is right up your alley!!! Stay Tuned guys!

We figured most people would be when we came up with this idea. The benefits of running a methonal kit over race gas are impressive to say the list. Not to mention the cost is significantly less. Even if it didnt make more power, the higher octane allows you too pull less timing and make more power.

Subsribing, have some ideas and thoughts, though no time right now. How about a dedictaed stand alone for the dry hits, yep, a reality.

Would it be? I mean its not a wet shot if fuel is not mixed with the N2O in the IM or TB Right? As long as the dedicated is mixed or substituted for the 93 octane from fixed system, then it would still be a dry shot with the MAF correcting for the fuel. Anyhow, I like the idea of a meth kit. This seems like the way to go w/ Dry. Mike, I think you guys will see a HUGE DEMAND if and when you come out with this new product. I know (assuming it is reasonably priced) will order one as soon as you offered (like i indicated in the PM). Can't wait to see what yall come up with.

It should be an interesting debate as to what you would call it, almost a hybrid dry/wet shot. The shots wouldn’t be mixing in the nozzle but they would be mixing in the intake track. Putting two dry (one nitrous, one meth) nozzles next to each other is really the same thing as running a wet nozzle. One way or the other you need them to mix before they reach the intake just like any other wet kit. Otherwise you wouldn’t be getting proper distribution to each cylinder. You wouldn’t be able to run the dry shot before the MAF as you would be doubling up on fuel.

That’s what we were thinking as well. Think of how much you will save in fuel alone. I haven’t been to the track in awhile but what is the price of 116? i checked VP's website and it looked to be just over 10 dollars a gallon. I found meth to be around 8 dollars a gallon, but you will be running a 50/50 mix of water/meth, so it’s really about 4 dollars a gallon of fuel.

So the proposed kit would be pretty clean install compared to say the dedicated where there are even more fuel lines all over the place. I really like that idea. Ok, i won't press you for any more info, but i will be watching. Thanks mike.

Run an OLSD tune and you can just put your race gas in the tank and run it when you want to spray.
