Ground?

Ground? Just wondering if anyone has had this happen or can explain why it might of happened:
Last weekend I installed my nitrous outlet dedicated fuel system and since I hadn't driven the car for nearly 5 months(damn winter) I wanted to go ahead and test my noids and the fuel system. My nitrous and fuel solenoids worked fine, but my purge wouldn't work. I checked it out today with my little 12v tester that lights up red with power and green with ground. I found that I wasn't getting a ground. It was connected securely in the same place it always was when it worked before(to the coil mount)but wasn't getting ground. So I ran a new wire to the body and it bingo...it works!
Any idea why the old ground quit working even tho the connector was tight?
