Default Timing tuner

I'm thinking on starting out at a 100 shot and i'm looking into buying the timing tuner. what i'm looking to find out is, is the timing tuner worth buying if i'm only going for a 100 shot? if i just retard the timing for the N2O how much would it affect my n/a tune?

The key word was "STARTING" with a 100 shot. Very few guys can "stay" at any safe level, because N2O is addicting. I installed a TT and keep 125 jets in mine, but if I need, I can change jets and amount of retard in about 3-5 min.
I also use mine for setting min and max rpm spray, just to make sure I don't spray too low and damage the engine or slap the rev limiter. (Not a good thing with N2O)

I highly reccommend the Timing Tuner. I really like it as it is a Programmable window switch, a N2O Delay that helps you get traction and plant the tires to the ground before the N2O hits making it a little nicer to the 10-bolt, and the fact that you can run advanced timing while on motor and safe timing while spraying. It really is a cool device and I can't imagine using N2O without it. Also whatever you end up doing be sure to monitor the A/F with a wideband or on a Dyno the first couple of times! Make sure it's right before you start spraying...... Have fun.......

I was just about to ask the same question, glad I looked around first. I have a shop willing to dynotune and install a timing tuner for 450. just not sure I need it with a 100 shot. how much will we actually lose on motor with just the normal dynotune?

IMHO you will lose alot. You will lose the window switch and the "as I have found to be very important" Delay function. Maybe it's just me but $250 is not that bad for everything this unit has. To answer your direct question, I don't think you will lose much HP from the retarded timing, Maybe around 10 RWHP. I think what you should be more concerned with is the safety and adjustability that you will lose by not running it.
