Default rpms reading way off! related to msd timing controller, digital switch

Alright fellas trying to figure out where I went wrong . I hooked up my second stage along with my msd timing controller and my msd window switch. No not on the same circuit but at the same time. Now I get thru crank it up and with the timing controller hooked up the Rpm reads way off, like its prolly pullin 1000 rpms and it can show 2k or 2500. Then it will start going crazy. The MSD digital window switch reads like 3600 when the guage reads 2k and the motor is actually turning 1000. Now when you hook the wiring harness up to each other " which supposed to bypass the controller and basically run like it was stock or programmed to." It doesnt read anything. The guage or the window switch doesnt read anything at all. Sets on zero! engine and everything runs fine too. Engine does idle rough with the timing controller hooked up. Any help?

Well you have to splice it in to the white wire or tach output, but you select the msd box for 1 cylinder instead of 8. It says to do that for the ls1 cars and 99 and up mustangs the same way? I have heard one guy say that his timing box was bad and the company told him it was faulty but in my case i dont know what is up with the timing controller bypassed it reads no rpms what so ever. Its so irritating to be so close to tryin it out!
