I don't know abour the Iridiums, but I've always heard not to use platinum tipped plugs because the platinum tip can get blown off of the plug and score your cylinders. I just use conventional.
No reason to use the iridiums anyways, get the tr6's and change once a year and be done! You should be checking them anyways so why not get the one's that work and the price is right!
What we want is a non protruding and heavy gauge electrode. A heavy wire can displace heat quicker, and a non protruding tip has a less likely chance of turning into a blow torch. Depending on hit size, a colder range plug is better. I like the TR7, as it has less protrusion than the tr6.
