Default N2O Setup question

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to N2O and I'm working to put together the ultimate setup for my car (2002 SS M6). I've done a TON of research, however wanted to get your opinions on a couple integral parts of my setup.

As for the kit, I went with the NX MAF wet kit. To accompany the kit, I picked up the purge kit, bottle warmer, remote bottle opener (since I'm planning to mount it discreetly in the rear hatch) and the Beer panel with controls for each.

I have two questions I'm hoping you guys can help me with:

1. It's finally time to make my decisions regarding the WOT sensor, window switch and FPSS. Since I have a M6 and I'm already making 440+ rwhp NA on the stock 10 bolt rear, traction is certainly an issue, so it might make sense to pick up a progressive controller (with 1st gear lockout). Do you guys have any good recommendations (perhaps a product that would combine two or three into one)?

2. Since I would like to run a strong NA tune for the streets, I would like to pick up a timing controller that allows me to retard timing for the N2O runs. Any recommendations here?

Thanks for all of your help with this!

Why not do suspension first and get what you have to the ground before adding more.

No worries, the 9 bolt rear and suspension mods are coming in just a couple of months. I already have the N2O kit taken care of....I only need to pick up the accessories.

Given that I plan to run a drag radial (MT or Nitto) instead of a true slick at the track, a progressive controller will certainly help me out with traction down low.

i'm sorry but you are going to be in for a rude awakening to think that a 550 rwhp M6 on the bottle with a 10 bolt is going to hook on any drag radial below 50mph

That might be a good thing with the ten bolt and a M6.

I think the nitrodaves switch would be a great option for you. It integrates the WOT switch and also offers gear lockouts as well as dual stage capabilities. Very easy to use, ive had two of them and loved em both!

550rwhp was more like 650 lb ft of torque in my previous experience.

Either way, u should consider yourself lucky! what tires and gears?

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not planning to hook on DR's with 550+ rwhp. I could easily slap a better tire on the car, however I'd need to go pick up the pieces to my 10 bolt after one good dead hook. I'll worry more about traction, etc. once I have a 9" rear.

Right now, I'm only trying to figure out what I need to use as my N2O controller with my current setup.

I've been looking at the Nitrous Express Octane Progressive Nitrous Controller. Given that I was already planning to pick up fuel pressure and nitrous pressure gauges, it looks like this gauge would give me progressive control over the nitrous as well as coupling it with a window switch, WOT sensor and the two gauges (N20 and fuel pressure). Does anyone have experience with this controller?

DR's have gone Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy faster than 550 hp can support, FYI

Nittos are good as long as they are hot, can't compete with the MT's on the launch though....from my experience.

It is smart of you to not push the ten bolt too far I started out that smart but my 325/50/15's are on the way

I know, I went 11.20s with my M6 before putting any better tire on the car. I cant say that it felt "surefooted" in 1st and 2nd and part of 3rd though.

Everything is a trade off. Mickeys are stickier but last half as long.

I am having second thought going with the nittos again but they lasted nearly 20k miles and they hooked really well up until the started going bald.

THIS IS YOUR ANSWER!!! lol

its a SIMPLE, 1 or 2 stage setup. it does WOT, and you can set the RPMs to activate, just like a window switch. the bonus feature for you is its also progressive. so when you have the hit come on its not a full XXXhp shot to the drive train. i have used it on my S.R.T.-4 to controll spinning in second gear. it can lock out first gear and come on progressive in second. im only on a 75 shot on the neon but its enough to spin the tires hard! with the option to use progressive i can put less strain on the drive train. the feeling of an instant 75-100-150 what ever shot to the wheels is gone and at first you might question if the kit is working right but when your at the track you can tell for sure, less wheel spin and better ET's,

The only issue i have with the controller would be that you have to have it hooked up to a PC to change any settings.

My advice would be to download there software and see if its what your looking for.
i think i paid a little over $200 for the unit. cant beat that for what you get.

I just got the Trick p-gauge from Nitro Dave's, I think its the same as nitrous express but its only 399. I don't have it in yet but i think you can only log one one pressure at a time because it only has one analog input. I should have it in sometime next week and will let you know more then.
