Iron block vs Aluminum block?
In your opinion, do you think you are less likely to push water/have head gasket sealing issues, with an Iron block vs an Aluminum block? Given with the same set-up, same type of heads, gasket, and studs. I am talking about the truck block, not the LSX. Discuss, thanks.
it all depends on the quality of parts used...with a good set of heads studs and good gaskets you shouldnt push water with either. im using an iron block, but only because it was a cheaper build that is still costing me over 12k
I hope the aluminum is OK- I have built my motor so the internals can hold 300... hope the block can
I have installed a Main Girdle- not convinced it was nesissary, but it certainly wont hurt keeping things solid-
I have installed a Main Girdle- not convinced it was nesissary, but it certainly wont hurt keeping things solid- I am sure the bottom end will hold up in either aluminum or iron. I was wondering if the iron block in itself (since the head mates to it) would lessen the chances of pushing water/head sealing issues.
