Default 3rd gen with nitrous help

i got a 305 TPI that definetly needs some help, i'm thinkin like a 75-100 shot, but in a few months i'm swappin to a 350 out of an 87 van. i wanna spray but have no experience doing so...is it worth it to spray the 305 or just wait on the 350...how much can the stock internals handle. Its an 87 Z28

I put over 50 bottles(yes, 500lbs) through a stock longblock 305 tpi engine. 5 bottles at 75, 20 @ 100hp, and 25+ at 150hp jetting.

Stock=15.70's @ 87mph
75shot=14.20's
100shot=13.30's @ 105+
150shot=12.80's @ 109mph.

It had a killer gain at 100hp, not so killer at 150hp so I don't reccomend it at all. 18mph gain with a 100 shot was so fun...haha Run 1-2 steps colder spark plug, Timing is everything...Not sure where your timing is set but if you've tuned the engine to run best with as much timing as possible...take 4 degrees out for the 100 shot. Premium gas only also....Goodluck!

thanks....depending on how long i keep the 305, i may spray the 100 shot...but i definetly think a 100 will be in order for when i swap to the 350.

ive seen some local guys here spray down into the 11s with the 305 tpi cars..

there used to be a guy on here with a stock TBI 305 that was runnin low 13s on a dry shot said he was trying to blow it up but couldnt do it...im pretty sure he was spraying a 175 shot straight into the tb with no added fuel...

I wonder if it ever blew up???lol

When i had a dry shot on my 305 all i had was a bottle, line, solenoid, and nozzle. Ran high 7's with NO pill in the nozzle Motor still runs and doesnt smoke with just over 90k on it. I dont like wet kits for TPI cars. The runners are LONG! I would do a dry kit that has a fuel dump that sends nitrous pressure to the fuel regulator.

be alot cheaper to piece it together...all you need is a nozzle from your local motorcycle shop, yeah, motorcycle shop, a small solenoid, a bottle, and your lines.......a motorcycle nozzle has a longer tip on it, easier for custom built kits...we put a 2 stage setup on a 2.8 S-10....the little thing held 300 hp of nitrous before it blew the head gasket...lol
