Default 100 Shot Plug Question

Hello,

I have a 1998 Z28 with 5177 NOS 100 shot and TR6 Plugs. I use the nitrous about twice a year (1 15lb tank last a year)

I have seen posts that say the TR6's rob power. Would I be better off running TR55 than TR6 since 99% of the time I am not running the Nitrous? If you think Tr55 or TR5's are better, what gap would you use?

I would personally keep the tr6's. They are a colder plug, so the spark isnt as hot and that would make a miniscule loss of power. My car still has some ***** with them. And anyone with nitrous doesnt use it all the time. You use the colder plug for safety, and for no other purpose. You could run tr55's, and it would probably be safe with only a 100 shot, but do you wantto chance it? Im guessing that your not pulling any timing either, so the colder plug is a good thing. keep it. I gap my plugs @ .034 with a 125 shot...although i only spray 75 at the moment.

I pull 4 degrees with the timing tuner when firing.

I guess my question is more related to copper Vs Platnum, the people I have heard on other forums claiming to lose like 20 HP with colder plugs. If I can use TR 5 or 55's I would try.

TR-6s do not rob power. In THEORY a colder plug should make a slight bit less than a hotter plug but this is before you realize that you can get away with slightly more timing advance and a slightly leaner mixture with a colder plug. We're talking alot of slights here...so slightly that you'd NEVER be able to prove any of it on a dyno or at the track. I'd be willing to bet that if you made 10 dyno runs with TR-5s and 10 runs with TR-6s that you couldn't truly establish an advantage with either. We're talking miniscule.

BTW, the spark is just as hot on a colder plug, the difference is that the plug bleeds off just a little more cylinder heat.

I use Denso iridiums, 1 step colder and long lasting. I have 125 shot dry. Gap .038

I am runnin dry system, .40 jets. gapped .35 and i go threw 1 bottle 1 day, if i have a itch for it! But Ngk TR6 is the way to go. I found out the hard way with the irridum 55 Ngk's. 437hp And 514 ft lbs trq Very happy I am
