th350 or 700r4 or 4 speed?

Default th350 or 700r4 or 4 speed?

Not sure what to do with the transmission in the 79 z28.
The 3 speed is killing me on the highway and I'm sure it has the 373's in it. Should I stick with the the th350 and do gears or swap to a 700r4 or 4 speed?

Can I have a different 3rd put into the th350? Whats the most cose effective thing to do? I really dont want a stick, have the 6 speed in the 99 and I like not having to shift this one.

A lot of you guys have auto's so your opinions are valued. I need decent gas mileage on the highway. This thing turns like 3500 roms at 65-70 right now

if you were planning on adding (alot) more power,
I;d say go with the 700R4


how about a 4spd,

what's your intentions with the car?

daily driver, needs to be highway friendly. It looks like I'm saving for a 7004r and reading up on the other stuff to convert it.

buddy with a 72 camaro and a 500hp small block 400 with a 700r4 told me he got 16 mpg the other day on the highway, which is impressive compared to my th400 setup

i put a 700r4 in my 72 gmc and with 3.73 gears, it was geared almost perfect for highway driving.

Another thing that the 700r4 has over the TH350 is a lockup converter.

One option you didn't mention is a GearVendor overdrive unit, but I think they cost about the same (if not more) than a 700r4.
