Default Car jack...
So i got this Craftsman Jack and stand kit for christmas, it's pretty nifty but i tried it out and it doesnt fit under my car my car isn't lowered, the jack is only about half an inch or so too tall... So i was wondering, can the car be jacked up from an area right behind the front wheel well? that area seems to have a lil more clearance but i haven't tried to fit it under there. Or does anyone know of a good jack that will fit under my car?

get two jacks...lol nahh yeah you can behind either the right or left wheel wells but idk about getting the car up evenly tho?? i do most of my work at the shop i work at so i have a lifty lift but,DONT LIFT ON WHAT LOOKS LIKE A PINCH WELD ON THE FRONT REAR QUARTER ITS PLASTIC LOL... i cant quite remember you can get the corner of ther rear of the k memeber i belive..or what looks like a flat piece of metal i cant remember off the top of my head ill look at it tomarra sorry about the jack tho that sucks!

I cheat...drive it up on a set of plastic ramps then put the jack under it.

yeah i'd only use the jack for things like tire rotations and oil changes. any MAJOR stuff would be done on my buddies lift or in a shop. I'll see if it fits behind the wheel well, if it doesnt i can just return it buy a new jack, or sell it on Craigslist if they wont take it.

yup, a block of wood works great. thats what i use.

what set did you get? I just bought the one that comes with a creaper for a nice cheap 110.00. on sale PLUS discount, oh yeah!

It's the jack that has like stands built into the lift. so you slide it under, jack the car up, release this lever and pull the jack back and BAM, jackstand right under the car. all in one motion. it's really nifty, can't wait to use it

Damn, you ARE spoiled. Don't get me wrong, we have lifts we can use too, but jackstands have been good enough for Engine/Tranny/Convrtr swaps for decades.

My girlfriend bought me a craftsman jack and it sucks ***** It only lifts about 4 inch's then the hydraulic's mess up but it lifts my car up enough to use the big jack

you probably have air in the oil container, lots of brand new jacks have that problem.

FYI Schucks sells a very nice jack that has a very long section (about 2ft), that is only like 3" Tall. It is also a one pump deal, where you pump it once and it goes all the way up to the jacking point. Might need to talk to the ProShop about it rather then the regular dufus behind the counter. It ain't cheap but well worth it IMO.
