Unhappy cam installing?

well, im going to be installing a cam soon (mti x1) and ive never gotten inside my motor before, ive got all the supporting mods (pr's, springs, gasket kit, timing chain, cam) I dont want to have a shop do it (expensive), the money i have saved up is for the tune. so anyone on here done a cam install? im worried about the lifters falling when i pull the cam, how long should it take? can i drive the car after the swap? im in school now, so ill need to drive it back and fourth in the mean time until the next weekend when i can get on the dyno.

Car has headers, ported tb, UD pulley, !cats!, !air! ls6 intake, m6, ford 9" w/ 4.11's. oh, its also an 88 trans am gta
