Default It Lives!!!!!

Ok guys, She fired up the first time and oil pressure came right up. It does sound like I have a loose rocker arm though. I guess the question is: Where do I go from here? Should I go ahead and take the valve cover off or should I wait for HELP!!!! Sounds like the loose rocker is coming from the drivers side.

dammit! that was my side to torque down. I'd say take off the cover and check for 22ft lbs on each one.

First put a screw driver or stethascope on the valve cover (& in your ear) & run the motor. Is it a ticking or a knocking? Ticking you can adjust. Knocking (something hitting metal) means a clearnce issue. Talk to me.........

It is definately a ticking. So should I go ahead and re-torque the rocker arms?

Hey Mark, I am in the process of re-torqueing the rocker bolts. I will post back when I'm done. But I will say that the f@#$*&%$er won't idle at all. I drilled the hole in the throttle body and adjusted the screw but it didn't help at all. Hopefully a tune will solve that problem. I will say that it sounds ****'n awsome. Louder and meaner than ever. Sure is a far cry from when we all were at the Dyno last March.

Hey Doug/Rick,

Not sure if you're reconvening tonight like we talked about, but my back tightened up after the lunch excursion, so I'm not likely to make it. I need to save myself for Steve's car tomorrow. Anyway, if you don't get her finished tonight, post & I'll try to stop over tomorrow after I'm thru with Steve's car. OK?

How big did you make the hole? Mine is 1/4", which is just under the max they recommend. And how far did you turn the idle up? (as in what rpm is it trying to run at) You need around 800rpm. It should idle, badly maybe, but idle. For sure a tune will help.

I'm headed out to the hot tub if you want to call me on my cell.

Were any rockers loose? Did the ticking go away? Turn the idle up farther 1st.

Signing off for the night...call me if needed.

as for th ticking, if it's not a rocker arm, it could be a lifter thats not pumped up completely. sometimes they take awhile. for the hole, try champhering (sp) it. take a 1/2" bit and bump the hole a few times. what you're trying to get is a funneling effect. this has as much or more to do with the idle as the size of the hole. i would try this before going bigger. i've never done one bigger than 7/32"
