Default Steph's car

Well the week is at an End and Stephs car is all but done. Only thing left is a full flush of the cooling system and a check up on the Rockers.

Since the last update I few things were tied up. The Alighnment was finished up ,The rear end was freashened up plus a T/A cover and Raytec solid spacer. I got new front brake lines over nighted in so I could put them on today. Brandon(sp) got to watch

So only thing left was some tuning and driving.

The car drives great and Is low...but not to low. The ride Is Eibach smooth until you dig in. Much better ride then Stock LT1 Z28 springs.

The power seems good. We logged a run to 6,000 in third...Or WAY past the posted limit. Either going to Move lock up higher or modify PWM lock. The two year old F-1s seem to emit smoke at will. The car used to just lay over in second with the tires spinning...now? It goes straight but lifting is best It is a smooth power. Unlike my car ,which is edgy and ripping, there is a LS1 feel to it but with Bottom end TQ.

The braking is as I expected. Because of the LT1 Bias we actually get a little better feel with the LS1 front brakes then a 98 up car does. I have always noticed this in my car. When ever I drive a LS1 car i have to remind myself they do not dig in like my car does.

Over all I am very Satisfied. The car is a little loud for me but Steph likes it. A cam on a LT1 REALY brings the bark to the compression bite

For all the pic I have enclosed a link. There are a BUNCH of them and they are big but I think you will enjoy them

The photo of your friend sitting in front of the shop covered in shavings:
Priceless. Nice photos.

I believe you got the steering knuckles from Tennesse Salvage, were you please with their service and parts?

Wow you had a lot of irons in the fire. Were those really metal shavings?? From what. Time to use a strong magnet for removal.

Nice dogs! I bet they can fetch wrenches etc.. Rusty & Turbo.

Those rims look sweet.

Nice job man. I am glad you enjoy your work. And that Steph is loving her "new and improved" LT1. Have fun, but not "too" much fun.

That's Ryan K. Shaving the Magnesium Valve covers Ellis is fixing to go out and do a little more right now. Gotta have that perfect fit...We had quite a few people help out on my car! Thank you to Everyone! And to those of you that wanted to help, but didn't know about it, Thanks too! I'm sure there will be more wrenching in the near future...we have Jimbobs car in the Garage waiting on parts, Ellis's car in the works, Tom's car (98 Z28) getting some upgrades...these are all in our driveway/garage as we speak.

Yes Steve, the knuckles did come from Tennessee and they did Great Service!

As for driving my car I got to drive it last night and I LOVE IT! I could not have asked for more that's for sure! I'm going to drive it down to Olympia tonight so I'll be able to get a good feel of it. I can hardly wait!

Still wierd whenever I see a picture of you without the crazy hair. What shocks did you use?

Looks good what happened to your painted 10spokes you had on the blue car?

LT1's are great little cars. Never felt like I had to worry about anything breaking. My purple car although its leaking oil all over the place. Is running 12.3s at will wih 120K on it right now....

Well it is all done! Steph is driving it. Rockers are still ouder then I want. Then again they have 70K miles on them out of truck We will pick up new set later this summer.

Yes the Knuckles came from there. They were GREAT to deal with!! I would use them again.

I still have the Painted ten spokes. and a set of polished ones. One of the reasons I was telling you to go Chrome is The polish is a PITA!! I am going to have that set widened and chromed

Gotta go guys Enjoy!

Hehehe

Had our own little test and tune today. She snap's off the shifts just as the tach hits 6,500. Both the 1-2 and 2-3 are firm but not tire breaking. perfect track shifts. Pulls hard all the way there. The ride is great and the brakes work perfect.

Yup I have been a mech pretty much all my life. If it had wheels I could make it go faster if it used electricity I could make it louder

The Pup's are our kids Love them to death

Yea they are incredibly smart dogs, taught mine so many things I couldn't remember them all, and very fast learners. Glad you like your car, my '97 was like that, pulled like a bull and never stopped.

It does not matter how nice I ask, or the fact that I offer a home cooked meal, and pizza and beer, or whatever to eat all day. I am at the point I don't know what to do now.

A lot of these folks have known each other for years and years. I have seen some folks help others like 10 times (I mean long days too) before they even asked for help themselves.

There is no formula for help but personally I could never ask for free help, I can not re pay the favor with my work schedule. I have had offers to help with installs on my car which I did myself, (nothing to major) but it is from hanging out at shows for a couple years or I have polished a little something for someone which makes folks want to help. Not to mention timing, what others are doing that day etc etc.. Heck it is tough for some of us to meet to go to a show together, lol.

Don't feel bad.

What do you need help with Mike? I'm sure some of the guys would be glad to go over there and wrench a little. It's always nice to help out friends and learn stuff in the process...
