I plan to go. I need all the passes I can get to tune my car. I plan to leave early from work since the wife is working & won't be going with. Anyone want to meet up somewhere to caravan around? I know Bill & Jason don't want to drop another $60 on ferry fees if they go. I think the gates open at 4:00.....

If I work that day I plan on shooting across the sea/brem 12:50 ferry.

If I don't work I'll caravan on down with everybody else.

Gates open @ 3pm on Fridays, according to their website.

I'm up for caravaning around as long as I can get at least my new clutch installed... don't know if I'd have room in my car for both my slicks and skinnies though. Don't know if I'm down for driving all the way out to Bremerton on skinnies up front and those hulking 295s out back.

I would be happy to haul people's slick in the truck. Are they radiel skinnys or are the bias ply like mine? If they are radiels they should be just fine with radiel tires in the back. The only time i had a porblem with mine was about 80-90mph i would start to get some wobble out of the slicks. But if you have radeils all the way around you should be golden!

Angry Drive shaft loop.

SHI@%^$#^%$%,
I don't have a drive shaft loop. I was looking into going to Portland this weekend, as Woodburn isn't doing the street legals this friday, and saw that they require one for 14s or better. I guess I will have to get a BMR somewhere before then. I have a M95 Snell rated full face motorcycle helmet to use. I assume that will pass.
You may be right about the surprise w/my first time @ the track. I WILL, however, have put in some time with a G-tech before then, and I am told that I should be able to get a pretty good idea what times I can expect. I should have my launch and shifting techniques pretty well ironed out in a few days. I just have to overcome the fear of getting caught practicing, and get enough time w/dry pavement to take advantage of it.
As for mod.s, I have a Lingenfelter CAI, custom Predator tune, good aftermarket plugs and wires, and a B&M short shifter. My car pulls smooth, hard, and rock solid. Each mod. has, in turn, improved my launches and shortened the amount of time I can stay in the throttle on the street, (each red light is a launch light when it turns green, as far as I'm concerned. , unless there's someone in front of me.) I have driven this way since I started driving. My next work will be on the rear suspension, as I now have more wheel hop with the mods - I guess that's the price you pay.
I was finally able to take the drive over the mountains to the coast a couple of weeks ago, and I came to a couple of conclusions:
1: I can not push my car as hard as I want to on the streets/highways, as it is way too fun, and the car is easily capable of exceeding what I consider to be safe limits, (aside from the legal ones.) I used to drive a '72 Buick w/a carb.'d 455 big block. I had that thing running smooth like a sewing machine, and I could push it right to its' limits w/out fear. I am not afraid of power, but my GTO is way more car than the Buick ever was.
2: 90 or more % of the cars on the road have no chance to keep up w/me in my GTO.
I don't mean to seem like I brag alot, but I love this car. Also, lest anyone take this the wrong way, I know that most of you guys/gals on this board are in the other 10 or less % that could keep up w/me and/or kick my butt. That's why I come here, to check things out, meet some cool people, and learn. Also, this damn "mod bug" thing just keeps gettin' worse.
Sorry for the long post. I hope it's not too far off topic.
Thanks for all your help guys.

I think you'll be fine with the Drive Shaft Loop... I doubt they'd really look into it unless it's obvious you're gonna be running low numbers.

The helmet... I think a Snell 100 or better is required too...

And if things are ok... I might make the trip as well on the 29th. Why the hell not take it down the track.

Thumbs up well...

I tried again, and at least I was able to look up the tech. stuff. My helmet will be okay, 90 or better is what they say.
I can't seem to get the comp. # form to come up for me. I can't get the directions link to work either. I found a Bremerton Raceway in Port Orchard, WA, is this the right place? On/by the Village Greens Golf Course? I have relatives that live in Port Orchard, but I don't know them very well. They're related to my Grandmother on my mom's side.
I found a place in Hillsboro that sells BMR stuff. Thir website says they have a driveshaft loop in stock. I might be making a little trip up there tomorrow.
I might make an overnight of this event, and take my wife w/me to stay up there the night before the races.
I plan on seein' ya all there.

I'm doin' my damnedest! It seems like it's hard as hell to get people from Oregon to do anything! Maybe it's all the "transplants". I grew up here, and this is where my mom's family all is. I don't know wtf the deal is.
In all fairness, though, I don't expect to do a whole lot of racing once I get a good idea what my car can do. Although this damn mod. bug just won't leave me alone. I might have to just keep modding and racing. My wallet is screaming for mercy already.

Good luck with not racing much. Get a mod, go to the track and see how it helped, and on and on it goes..........

I know all about the wallet screaming for mercy. I'm kinda digging out of that hole right now. Mods are on hold for me for a couple more months. But I'll be damned if I'm not gonna race in the meantime. Way too much fun not to.
