Drag Racing
If I don't work I'll caravan on down with everybody else.
Gates open @ 3pm on Fridays, according to their website.
If i go i guess i will just have to take the day off work

I don't have a drive shaft loop. I was looking into going to Portland this weekend, as Woodburn isn't doing the street legals this friday, and saw that they require one for 14s or better.
I guess I will have to get a BMR somewhere before then. I have a M95 Snell rated full face motorcycle helmet to use. I assume that will pass. You may be right about the surprise w/my first time @ the track. I WILL, however, have put in some time with a G-tech before then, and I am told that I should be able to get a pretty good idea what times I can expect. I should have my launch and shifting techniques pretty well ironed out in a few days. I just have to overcome the fear of getting caught practicing, and get enough time w/dry pavement to take advantage of it.
As for mod.s, I have a Lingenfelter CAI, custom Predator tune, good aftermarket plugs and wires, and a B&M short shifter. My car pulls smooth, hard, and rock solid. Each mod. has, in turn, improved my launches and shortened the amount of time I can stay in the throttle on the street, (each red light is a launch light when it turns green, as far as I'm concerned.
, unless there's someone in front of me.) I have driven this way since I started driving. My next work will be on the rear suspension, as I now have more wheel hop with the mods - I guess that's the price you pay. I was finally able to take the drive over the mountains to the coast a couple of weeks ago, and I came to a couple of conclusions:
1: I can not push my car as hard as I want to on the streets/highways, as it is way too fun, and the car is easily capable of exceeding what I consider to be safe limits, (aside from the legal ones.) I used to drive a '72 Buick w/a carb.'d 455 big block. I had that thing running smooth like a sewing machine, and I could push it right to its' limits w/out fear. I am not afraid of power, but my GTO is way more car than the Buick ever was.
2: 90 or more % of the cars on the road have no chance to keep up w/me in my GTO.
I don't mean to seem like I brag alot, but I love this car. Also, lest anyone take this the wrong way, I know that most of you guys/gals on this board are in the other 10 or less % that could keep up w/me and/or kick my butt.
That's why I come here, to check things out, meet some cool people, and learn.
Also, this damn "mod bug" thing just keeps gettin' worse. Sorry for the long post. I hope it's not too far off topic.
Thanks for all your help guys.

The helmet... I think a Snell 100 or better is required too...
And if things are ok... I might make the trip as well on the 29th.
Why the hell not take it down the track.
I can't seem to get the comp. # form to come up for me. I can't get the directions link to work either. I found a Bremerton Raceway in Port Orchard, WA, is this the right place? On/by the Village Greens Golf Course? I have relatives that live in Port Orchard, but I don't know them very well. They're related to my Grandmother on my mom's side.
I found a place in Hillsboro that sells BMR stuff. Thir website says they have a driveshaft loop in stock. I might be making a little trip up there tomorrow.
I might make an overnight of this event, and take my wife w/me to stay up there the night before the races.
I plan on seein' ya all there.

see if you can drag some of those other oregonians up with ya!
Maybe it's all the "transplants". I grew up here, and this is where my mom's family all is. I don't know wtf the deal is.In all fairness, though, I don't expect to do a whole lot of racing once I get a good idea what my car can do. Although this damn mod. bug just won't leave me alone. I might have to just keep modding and racing. My wallet is screaming for mercy already.

I know all about the wallet screaming for mercy. I'm kinda digging out of that hole right now. Mods are on hold for me for a couple more months. But I'll be damned if I'm not gonna race in the meantime. Way too much fun not to.

Way too much fun not to.

I suspect I will find that you are correct.
