Mark,
No doubt this will be great for ORR interest. And actually Boyce and I agree on more things than this post would suggest. He "knows" I'm just bustin' his ***** in good fun
and yes they actually DID allow an unknown kid ( with some vouching for by a few people ) come in and run unlimited. No way in hell it could happen today. Back then it was like "hey Festus ya wanna go 200 mph next weekend ?" " Well hell yeah Cletus, lets put the seat belts back in that thar '69 Camaro, roust up some helmets and go do this" They also let a certain Ferrari run unlimited with bald tires back in the day. When a tire blew, and they went 4 wheelin' tossing the drivers wife out into the desert they started making a few rules

BTW yes, if I remember correctly, R.J.'s ***** were strapped into the passenger seat on that run

You know Boyce your excuses are like say the Stealers did not realy win the super bowl back in the 70s because the rules were different

It is a ALOT like whining LOL!

Well, one thing for certain, having that car come back has sparked interest across the country. And I'm sure that all the "big dogs" are making preparations. Because 15 years ago Big Red was BY FAR the fastest ORR car. And now he's back. I hope I get to see him run.

PS 25 years ago Grumpy Jenkins was kickin *** with his SBC Pro Stocker. How the worm turns....

And nothing warms My heart more then every time I see Grumpy at the line with the Stoggy hanging out of his mouth! Yesterday it was burning away as they were going rounds!

I love Big Red. With out that car the ORR would be almost nothing today. It was nothing more then a huge under ground afair just peaking its head out when he tripped the clocks in an OLD piece of american Iron.

I have a few customers that STILL run some of those races

Just an update on everyones beloved "Big Red Camaro". It only managed 17x in the Z2Z shoot out and was beat by a viper that ticked off a 18x. NONE of the cars entered in the Z2Z got near 200mph.

Also Big Red didnt even run in the main event.

You say that like you DON'T like the car.....sorry to hear it didn't make the race. Interesting a car as heavy as a Viper beat it in the Z2Z race. I could see an F1 doing it.....

Its not that I dont like the car. hell, i love the car. I was on the site today and thought about buying one of the shirts.

What I DONT like is when someone starts saying that they are coming to anhialate the competition. ESPECIALLY when they havent made a runin 15 years or so.

People dont realise how much HP it takes to get a car to 200mph inside of 1 mile. ESPECIALLY when the DA's are in the 9000 area. And in the ORR world 9000 DA's arent out of the question. We saw them at the PE130 last year. There is a noticable effect on how the car runs.

The viper that beat him was the K&N viper, so you can beassured that it wasnt anywhere near a stock configured viper. Even though the viper is heavy and a aerodynamic brick, its still less of a brick than a 69 camaro.

True, going 0-200-0 in 1 mile is tough at sea level, much less with the air denstiy reading 9,000'! Unless you are driving for Grumpy Jenkins. But still, 176 is impressive. I wish my car would do that. I'd be lucky to hit 140. So is the K&N Viper that hit 182 a TT version? And it was the only car that ran in the regular race?

You mean kinda like the way you run your mouth some time Boyce

The main reason we get off on spouting this stuff is you you get so damn pissy about it LMFAO!!!

For SOME un-known reason you some times come off like you are the only person on earth that knows this crap...when we ALL know it is "I"!!!

LMFAO!!!!

IMO Big Red was entered into this event as a publicity stunt only. Why didn't it run ? Did it break ? I'd really like to know the inside story on this one.

Me too! I have been looking around & nobody seems to have any details posted. All I found was it says only ONE car finished the race in the UNL class. Now that is strange. I guess the good news is we didn't drive all the way down there to watch Big Red sit in "the pits".

Apparently it wasnt even in the car show either. And no one said anything about any breakage. It looks like a big publicity thing more than anything.
