might get a new engine
yesterday while driving I got on it pretty hard, and somehow bent a pushrod and ejected the lifter. I don't know if I floated the valve, wiped out a lobe on the cam or what, but the rocker arm was totally off of the pushrod/valve when I pulled the valve cover.
Anyways, so rather than going through the posibility of changing cams (and possibly worse If the valve happen to hit the piston) I'm thinking of changing the engine/tranny (which I've been wanting to for awhile anyways).
So now I'm looking into either a L98/700R4, or a 5.3 or 6.0/4L60E combo to put into it. I'm not a big fan of the LT1 with its optispark and other various troubles. I think the L98 will be the cheapest, and possibly work the best overall with the torque that it makes (remember 4000 lb pickup) the 1st gearing of the 700R4 and my 3.08 gears. But a 5.3L or 6.0L ought to work fine too.
Guess I'll have to keep my eye out for deals and possibly call some salvage yards.
