Default Nitto's make all the difference!!!!

Yehah!

I made the 12 second club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well guys, I finally made it into the 12's. The Nitto's really made a huge difference. I went from a 2.19 60ft best to a 1.805. The car really hooks quite nicely. Check out the time slip and tell me what you think. Mine is on the left.

Now I just need a decent rear end to hold that traction.

CONGRATS! Feels good don't it Doug? I knew your car would do it. Now you need to get that tune straightened out & see how fast it will go. Is that the pass you hit the limiter on?

Thanks to all. It really felt great getting that time. And yes I did hit the Rev Limiter on this pass as well. I do think a decent tune will get me even a better time, but we will see.

Congrats Doug! That was a hell of a run... your car runs real strong, I'd say you'll pick up another couple tenths if you tweak the tuning so you're not running into that limiter.

Now I just gotta get my **** squared away. This clutch business is really starting to **** me off...

I don't think you did... the problem actually might be the DOT 3 fluid I'm using has too low a boiling point, plus there might have been an air pocket in the system. I opened the reservoir and looked in, the fluid smelled burnt, it was blackish color (and this was new fluid when I put the clutch in), and it looked like the fluid was low (just at the very bottom of the reservoir).

Since I don't have a leak, it tells me (correct me if I'm wrong) that there was an air bubble in there, it worked its way to the top and out of the system, lowering the level in the reservoir by a little bit (looked about 1/4" lower than it was before). So, the boiling fluid plus the air bubble, might have been the cause of my problem. So I'll flush the system, refill with good high boiling point fluid, and go give it a try again.

Last time I saw Ellis he recommended a good clutch fluid with a higher boiling point........I don't recall the name but if you ask him, let me know (I forgot it). Mine gets mushy as the car heats up/after my 1st pass at the track.

In the order of quality AND $$$

1. Castrol SRF ( $32 per PINT ! )
2. Motul 600 ( about $16 per pint )
3. BMW racing fluid ( about $12 per pint )

Nothing that available over the counter has ever worked very well for me in my brakes while road racing. I put BMW racing stuff in there and problem solved. Heat is heat is heat and if your fluid is dark in your m/c then you definitely need some racing spec fluid in there. You also may need to bleed a little bit more out after EVERY drag strip event to get some more fresh fluid into the slave where the killer heat occurs. I do this every open tracking day. You don't need to bleed the entire system out, just flush out the slave ( or caliper in my case ) Do the make speed bleeders for our clutch slaves ? They really make life easy if they do.

I think you'll have to mail order all of these unless things are better in the big city than they are up here in the weeds

Jason I have an extra quart of the BMW stuff I'll sell you if you want to try it out ?

The stuff i use for racing in he clutch is ferodo. The circle track guys use it in there brakes and i have been told people have melted brake rotors before this stuff has burnt up.

I have had no problems with it.

Mine didn't ever get mushy at all... it just hung in 2nd gear, then it wouldn't go into 3rd or 4th, just as if there were no clutch there. Pressure was fine in the pedal...
