Default Is the T56 in the CTS-V the same as the one

in the C5 Vettes, 6spd F bodies, GTO...etc...etc...etc...

i'm assuming the gearing might be different.. but as far as clutch and flywheel replacements.. would a clutch and flywheel for one of the above mentioned work for my V? Or do I have to get one specific to the V?

The caddy uses the new version T56 made by Tremec

EDIT: To finish answering. I am pretty sure you could get away with either vette or Fbody components. I havent seen a cutaway of the car so I dont know if it uses a torque tube like the vette since its has IRS or if it just botls to the motor with a bellhousing and off you go.

clutch / pressure plate / flywheel are the same. Different gearing in the Z06 / GTO vs other cars.

3.42 vette, Fbody and GTO (M6)

3.73 V car, part of the reason why its 0-60 is so good for a sedan.

The V is supposed to share the same transmission 1st gear ratio as the ZO6. But what do I know?

The CTS-V uses the same gears and Multi cone syncros as the Z06 from what I hear....but I do not know much...

BTW they are NOT interchangable!

The shifter in the V mounts to the floor, too so there are only like 2 options for aftermarket shifters. Both of which cost around $400 Just another difference.

I have an 05 CTS-V and I am looking to change out the tranmission (rebuilt the current one over time) and I have found a T56 from a 2005 Z06 for a decent price that I was going to buy...will this not work with the 05 V??

Thanks for the help!

The transmissions are completely different externally.
