Default Anyone watch PINKS?

Just seen a show on Speed t.v called Pinks advertised. Race your car for the other persons title. Looks kinda cool.

That shows been on for a while...it's been discovered that it is a farce. The people don't actually lose their cars, they can buy them back for $100. And on one of the races, the guys were friends (from chi town) so no one lost anything...but of course they didn't tell us that..

This is from another board...it's about the guys from chi town...I watched the show when it was on...

:
the real deal with that joke of a show.....

So last year I called the producer/host of the show pinks. said I wanted to be on the show and race for titles. He tells me I'm going to be racing some civic from California. so I get an 89 formula roller and start putting a budget car together for this show with every intention of racing it for titles. about 2 months later i get a call saying the guy from California backed out. So I'm like wtf??? The producer/host is like do you know anyone from your area that you could race against?. I'm like i think i got your guy. so i call juicin up cause he likes to be on TV, and basically said do you want to be on this show pinks? we set it up so that we had no risk of losing our cars.

Now since we had no risk of losing the cars we decided to sell the formula and use my wife's car. put in a new cam, heads, and fogger kit to be a comparable race for juicin. The night before we had to leave the oil pan cracked and we had no replacement at the time. We scrambled and called up tom "bird of prey" and I said "can we borrow your car for the weekend" With us being in a bind he kindly said sure. We strapped a nitrous kit on an otherwise stock car and headed for Iowa.

We get there early "like the producer/host told us to. and find out we had to wait til it was dark to shoot the episode, so that sucked. It was like 15 degrees outside and was freezing my a** off.

When we finally started going I myself got so aggravated with how everything was going I was going to put the car on the trailer and leave. I got threatened by the producer/host that I couldn't leave and had to do the show otherwise he would take my car. "even though it wasn't even mine and had no title for it." So we ended up doing the race the Producer/hosts wanted it to be. I did what they told me to. I really didn't care if i won or lost considering we weren't going to lose anything and just acted for the camera.

In closing. NO I did not lose a car nor had any risk of losing the car. and actually started driving it home right after the camera's were shut off. and juicin blew his car up. And that's the truth.

I got an invite to the premier of the show in California with no plane ticket attached. declined the offer and sent this email to the producer.

"Thanks for the invite but i will have to decline the offer. In all honesty If i would have known how it was gonna turn out i would have never have done it. I slaved to get a car done in time for your guys show. it didn't happen so we used a back up car. paid god knows how much in gas to get out into the middle of bum f*** in the freezing cold winter to basically put on a show for you guys. ends up u guys don't know the first thing about racing and i get aggravated and was just like eh whatever I'll put on a show and lose. and now i look like some stroke that lost his car on TV without even getting my shop plugged.

Then The Producer/host calls up saying hey we need you to do another show. so I'm like I cant afford it right now I'm not made of money. than I'm like well f*** it I will try and put something together. I spend a bunch of money on another car and end up not being able to finish it cause like i said i really couldn't afford it. so now I'm broke and trying to get myself back on my feet. I would just assume not be associated with this show any more. its been far more trouble than it was worth.

What did i get out of it? I look like a loser on TV, and I'm in debt. what did you guys get? a big fat paycheck. have a nice day."

After the show aired I made a few post explaining my situation. I got a call from the producer and host saying the fox network was very upset about what I was saying on the internet and i had better take it down. So i took it down and now i realized I never got a copy of the supposed contract i signed so i can say what I want. All I'm doing is telling the TRUTH about the show.
```````````````````````````````````````
ha ha I'd still watch it if I remembered when it was on though
That is crazy. I don't watch too much t.v, but looked cool. Guess it would be a waste to watch it now except to see some fast cars.
That episode was a farce. Not the whole show. I don't agree with their rules though. A chase is a race and it always should be. They need to decide if they want to race street rules or track rules.
I never know when it's on... that and I work nights so I never catch it anyhow. However I've seen some of their clips by jumping through hoops on their site and it doesn't look too bad to watch... but yea, they never show any times although you can tell there are some that'll really move.
They need a light. They use that guy with his hands and its not very acurate. Ive seen him hesitate and cost races. Lights are the best for that crap and they could use it for hanicaps
Yea, who knows if the the teller of the tale is just bitter because he lost, or if he's telling the truth. Secondhand gossip? I watch it anyways, it's drag racing kinda/sorta. I signed up Rey and myself for a near future show, we'll find out if it's real or not (waiting on Rey's tune).
I hate that show! What they should do is just have a straight, no BS, heads-up race for the titles. Not spend most of the friggin show debating about car lengths, using nitrous, who's ******* is bigger, etc. And this "buy-back your car" policy... CRAP!! You lose it, it is gone forever.. that is what racing for PINKS is all about!
Maybe I am old school, but I think it is about who has got the fastest car in a heads-up race. This type of racing and the show is a JOKE!
I agree. When it was first announced I went to the website and read the 'mission statement' from that idiotic host. He really made the show out to be a true race side by side no "Will you agree to 8 car lenghts" bs with a cheap buy-back on the title after it was over.
Its total
I've watched about 3 1/2 episodes. Only thought one was decent. The show just spends too much time BS'ing and it is totally obvious when the guys are sandbagging. Then there's the times when there is a misunderstanding or mis-cue.
It just got old way too quickly.
They like to make out the negotiations between the drivers as like a "who can be more cunning" and crap. I say cut the small talk and do it straight up street racing. Line them up and who gets to the finish line first wins. If you need like 18 car lengths and no nitrous used or whatever, then your car shouldn't be on the show.
Like anyother "reality" show on TV they spend a bunch of time making it dramatic and edit it how they want after the taping.
That IS the way real street racing works though. Most of the time it isn't about who has the faster car. It's about can I still beat you if I give you X amount of a head start. I wish it wasn't that way. Then I wouldn't have to spot people out all the time. That's the only way to get a race usually unfortunately....especially if money is invovled.
I agree
setting out cars is street racing's version of bracket racing. old school= heads up, you lose......hitch a ride home.
