Dropping M6 tranny
Is there anything else to this or should I commence the beatings?

Oh, and that top right bolt from the tranny took FM to get off... nothing like trying to feed a socket onto a bolt from 3 feet away!
(shifter/console...not sure if they are required to remove though)
if those are all clear.. then it'd only be bolts left in the bell housing
i could've sworn my 4L60e had 10 or 12 bolts..
you should be able to see where it's catching though
Had the same problem when we pulled my motor last. couldnt get it out to save our ***. Then one of us got the bright idea to see if relieving the pressure off the clutch would help. BINGO, slipped right out.
I'll try the clutch trick.. not sure how it would help the bellhousing (if it were cinched or caught I'd have a lot bigger issues than removing a metal shroud! fyi - still on engine around flywheel, i unbolted transmission from bellhousing to drop it) thanks for the suggestion!
