What's going to be the hot deal in the next 5 10 years? where will it end?
possible to see 540+ ci LSX and auto 6 speeds? Will we have to come up with a way to get around the gas guzzler tax soon? the new stuff from GM is awesome, LSx427 and 6.2 motors, and the aftermarket like Dart and World are now in. the possibility of having a giant cube lsx with 900+ n/a pump gas is juat around the corner.
just pondering

Most of us are trying to make it to this spring - it doesn't go too far beyond that....

My magic 8 ball says the hot new thing in 10 years will be the Hybrid Electric Sports Car. Toyota is already working on it. GM and the other US companies need to get on the ball before they are left in history's wake.

We are in the last days of the traditional muscle car. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Hybrids are a fad.

In 10 years VGT ( variable geometry turbo's ) with DOD ( displacement on demand )technology will be the norm. Also Valves will be actuated via solinoids and what was formerly called cam timing will be infinitely adjustable from idle to ??? at the ECM level. Static compression ratio will of course be "on the fly" adjustable to perfectly match the cam timing ( can't wait to see how they do this ) to realize optimal DCR at all rpm's. This will go along with 7-8 speed paddle shift trannys in base model fbodys ........

And here I was hoping 700 hp on pump gas w/20+ mpg would be impressive. But I like your crystal ball MUCH better Bill. Plus I think it's closer to being correct.

depends on your definition of hybrid, zeke. that we will use regenerative braking and other means of momentum storage and reuse is a certainty. and that electric motors give max torque even at 0rpm certainly has its uses. i agree that hybrid and more creative powertains and vehicles will become the norm. and for endurance racing? count on hybrids and what we believe to be unconventional today to be commonplace in five to ten years. Just look at the new endurance racer from audi. it's an oil-burner with a boatload of technology. Not new; just improved to the point where it's relevant. we will see many "fads" today becoming more and more relevant. good times ahead.
