Default Fuddle converters???

Anyone running one of these? I'd love to drive around a 3k stall or at least get a ride in one before making my decision on which TC to buy.

I would stay away from Yank. They are killer products, but they will rip you off whenever they can. If I knew a month ago what I know now I would probably go with a Vigilante.

I've gotta take Ellis's advise on this one, he is the only reason I am even contemplating racing with the auto. I had the worst luck with autos at the track that I'm suprised I'm even considering it now.

I have a Fuddle 3400 2.1 STR and never had a problem(just typical pwm under 2k rpms) and no tuning yet. My z28 is my daily driver..Is the second stall converter I ever had, so I can't comment on much on others...I had a Yank 2600 stall in for 3 months and only dropped my times 1/10th, added the 3400 and dropped 1/2 second. Car is very consistant, on Sun I ran:
12.866
12.858
12.851
12.811
12.783(after adding 2 gallons of 100 octane)

Hey Ellis, would it be worth it to me to change to a different converter..would I see imporoved times or better mph etc?

Much would depend on how inefficent the Fuddle is. Maybe Jimbob will get in here and explain it a little better. My Yank is extremely efficent

Depending on which converter you went with I would say your MPH should go up some but you may loose a little 60FT. Loose converters 60FT hard but typicly give up top end MPH

If you are happy with it keep it until you are no longer happy with it

There's always TCI. I have a 3000 in mine but need a 4400.

There's some good Q and A's on this thread....Don't mind the Verter brand just understand how rpm range, efficieny, gear and power output are important...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/440605-new-s-through-my-fuddle.html

Mine for example has a 93% efficiency at HP peak of 6300 RPM. Ellis's is 94% and a little better suited to a strokers power curve (extension is 1300rpms). I really need to have one built with more pitch in the pump and a different stator combo. I like to see 94% to 95% at peak power with a good extension of 1500 to 1700 rpm. Right now mine drops 1700rpm with a lower peak hp efficiency....indicating I'm loosing a little average power and not making it up with better extension...With 93% veter I should be in the 1300rpm extension area (more average horse power). I'm going to have my VIG restalled but the numbers YANK gave me for a SS3600 with my combo don't look much better...Might need to go with a tight fuddle...

Jimbob has been trying to teach me what extension means.....maybe someday I'll understand. My Yank SS3200 flashes to 3700 now. Was around 2700. The car shifts @ 6500, and then drops back down to around 4500. So I think that means I have 2000 extension - 6500 down to 4500 (tho it could mean it's 800 - 3700 flash to 4500 at shift).

And my Yank is pretty efficient (94%?). The tranny runs cool (125* in town & ~150* at the track). It's street manners are very nice too. Most importantly I dropped 4/10ths & picked up 2 mph with the old motor.

Yep, the drop rpm from your shift. Our 4L60E's have a wide spacing and drop 2300-2400rpm after shifts. This is too much and takes you out of the power band. On your FI engine with lots of extra midrange the effects are little noticed. That tight verter with great effciency is probably 95-96% at 6k rpm and above, that would more than make up for some average power loss due to extension on your car. Turbos on the otherhand have so much midrange when boost comes on you need a tight verter to get the most average horse power...same for N2O cars....

WOW lots of good info, makes my head spin a little bit especially since the Nitrous is going to play into the equation. Things are much easier with a manual....I just would like to be able to go to the track to actually race instead of just screwing around. Looks like I need to do some more research and decide on my "final" configuration of the car, at least it sounds link Yank makes the type of converter I want, I'm leaning towards the SS3600 but that could change.

SS3600 would be a great choice.....As long as your not shooting a 200+shot on a stroker engine....

No it would be 150 on a H/C car at the most. I'm still toying with the idea of a FI T56 setup. But will probably do the nitrous and H/C with an auto. I'll buy another Z06 later for my gear rowing needs

Can't go wrong with the fully adjustable stall.
