Default The price of racing

I got the 9" back form Danny with the 3.40s in it. They replaced the aluminum pinion support with a steel version that hopefully won't pop the pinion seal out like it did on Boyce if I make it to the PE 130 this year. They also found a problem....seems the carrier bearings were going away.

Glad I made the change! This would have been VERY BAD very soon. At least now I know why it was starting to make noise after the 11 second passes. I figure this is from when Boyce ran it out of lube & overheated parts (the bearings looked good a year ago when I put the 4.11s in so they didn't replace them).

Now I just need to get the 300lb monster back into the car.

The cost goes-up almost exponentially with decreasing ET's, doesn't it? I am convinced that repairs are the factors that motivate many people to drop the sport. Spending money on going faster is acceptable, but repairs just to maintain a performance level can result in a decision to " not bother". I see many high performance and classic cars that become garage furniture.

On the bright side, at least you aren't pregnant.
