Check out this thread...
I was getting ready to post, but just not worth my time. Maybe after a couple of beers the time will be right!

Popular Mechanics did a test of the fastest stock production cars a few years back and their results listed the Camaro SS and Trans Am WS6 both faster than the Cobra.
I have the link but it is no longer active on their site.

It was all bench/magazine racing anyways. Most of those people are absolute morons. There was a couple good posts by Ford guys, but by and large it was slack jawed yocals spouting off about how the Mach 1 and Cobra are kings of the street.
I also found it funny how most of the arguments were about trap speeds instead of what wins races, ET's.

In truth, 90% of the time, an 03+ Cobra will take a stock f-body, & everyone on here knows that. A GT would be toast. The new Mach 1s would be close. But it's funny to read people's emotions talk on that thread when they know better.....or should anyway.
All I can say is GM has screwed the pooch in the muscle car world. Even got me looking at Fords......I sure do like that ice blue Roush out in Monroe!!!

If Ford let the Mustang get away from its bang-for-the-buck roots, I would have been very disappointed. We'll see how the General does with the new Camero and how Daimler does with the Cuda. They'll all probably run about the same. I think there is great profit potential in the new Camero. I hope they get it right. They've got all the driveline parts to make it a success...
