Default Brute update..

Took the heads into Meridian for a bit of tweaking and discussed some possible combos for it with the guys. It's looking like I'll be shifting at around 7800 or so with the new combo. I'm probably gonna have to get a looser converter as well, 3K flash just ain't a gonna be good enough. So, at least there are signs of life from the beast FINALLY.

Sorry Charlie, haven't been paying attention to what you were doing for the 'winter' modding. Sounds like some mid summer runs????

Hope all is going well

Yeah, the boy's at home and chomping at the bit to drive this beast when the docs clear him so we're finally doing the mods and repairs now. We hope to make some CCC's later.

He's walking with a cane and getting frustrated at times with his progress but he's ok.

Ordered the parts yesterday but still haven't settled on a carb. If I can find a 1095 Demon for a decent price I'll go that route.

You're not talking about shifting that 502 at 7800 are you?

Nah, we decided to drop the cam range down to 7200 so depending on where peak is, I'll shift a couple of hundred over that. The shop is sure the motor could handle 7500 easily but I think 7K is probably going to be my shift point. If I went in with H beams..., that might change.

It's not so much the bottom end as the valvetrain. Best have some light, strong parts up there.

I agree, BBCs have BIG valve train parts...all I could get out of my 402 was 7500 before things started floating, and I had some pretty good springs. You putting in a roller?

Yeah, solid roller from a hydraulic, good lifters, titanium retainers, etc. etc. The valve train shouldn't be an issue.
