Default Terrible day at the track

No traction off the line 2.4 60's, brakes failed on one of my runs shut me down early. Car is going into knock retard as well, not sure why, Tom had it running perfect on the dyno last year and I thought that would be it. Its a freaking computer how the hell can it develop problems after the fact?
Driver had trouble at the light as well. Best rt was .097 worst was .775

Left traction control on once by accident for a run as well, had to switch it off as I was shifting from 1st to 2nd. Still I didnt lose a run, drove by just about everyone I lined up with. Only had one race where I lead start to finish.
Clutch has issues as well or maybe its the trans. Not sure but it has a vibration after in 3rd gear from 70 mph on and whe I shift I can feel something not sure what it is though. All in all I learned a lot. The crew at Woodburn was very nice as well. I made a few rookie mistakes and they were very nice about it. SO my best run was a 13.390 with a 2.363 60', 5.883 330', 8.8 1/8 mile, 11.03 1000', 13.390 1/4 mile at 108.43 mph Very unimpressive
My worst 60' was a 2.47 and my best was 2.168. not matter what I was about 108 at the trap on all my runs, only made 4 total before having to limp home with brake issues.

MY reaction right now is that I need to take the clutch and trans out and see whats up there. I need to buy a pair of 15"rims and some Hoosiers if I want to hook I guess. I know the car is faster than that, I've run a few hi 11 low 12 second cars and beat them without trouble on a roll. Just cant get off the line or my car is a dyno queen

With your power I would expect a little higher trap speeds. Hmm...

yea, even with bad 60's which I new I might have, I thought I'd still be in the mid to low 12's. Not sure whats up with it. I can feel it kick up and down. Keeps going into the 87 octane table instead of staying at the hi one is what I think its doing again. Did it before and Tom had it pretty much tuned out but lately I noticed it pinging again at 2k rpms. And it seems to de-tune itself while I'm driving it sometimes. All I can think is its jumping from 87 to 93 octane table but why?
As far as the brakes. It looks like the line lock leaked and thats what caused my failure. When I used it on the burn out it must has leaked all the trapped fluid out. I kind of felt something as I was letting go of the button, thought the brake went soft but it was real quick and I wasnt real sure. They grabbed without hesitiation as I was staging but after the run I hit them and the pedal went to the floor as I pushed harder to try and stop. For a quick second I thought I was gonna drive off the track but they seemed to come back a little at the end plus I was down shifting to try and slow it down as well. Got back to the pits and they were pretty firm again. Popped the hood and saw the puddle of fluid under the line lock so my day was done. Bad part is my budgets just been cut completely so theres no way I can have Tom do some logging and try and see whats up. Oh well. I can fix the line lock myself and then I'll run again and see if it does any better. Not much I can do about the clutch and trans right now either. The good news is I could have run for the money. I was fairly consistent, slow but consistent No matter what my rt or 60' was I was at about 13.43 and 108.
Would have been nice to work on my launch if the brakes hadnt feked up. I swear I get better traction on the streets. I might have been to hi in the rpms at the line as well. I was anywhere from 2500 to 4000 rpms

I see you have long tubes. How many miles have you had them on? After I put sticky tires on and a grabby spec 3 clutch, and poly trans mount, my engine mounts turned to mush and now my driver's side header always bangs the floor whenever I accelerate hard or bog it. It pulls 7º of timing because it thinks the header hitting the subframe is knock. Makes it a whole lot slower too..

the lts have been on for a couple years now. They were among the first things I did. I already did the engine mounts and corrected the banging but I think my trans mount is torn. I dont feel a bang but its stock and i know I feel a "twist" when I grab 2nd gear. Not sure if thats whats causing my retard, but something is.

Still sounded like you had fun though. Maybe have someone do a reading for codes thrown, might show the problem. Could be bad gas? or something as simple as a dirty MAF wire not reading all the air coming in causing a lean condition and thus detonation and timing issues. But that's just speculation. Get those 60'er times down and you'll easly gain a second or more on your ET, some nice dr or et streets. i understand the budget thing also. I had to put some mods on hold because of a shortage of $$, and that is with my car tore apart waiting on parts that I can't get now.

Thats not a bad day. A bad day is getting up @ 5am and driving 80 miles to race. Get 1 run in and some ******* breaks his rear and drives all the way down the track. 3 hours to clean it up. Then the rain comes. The rain stops and the track is just about ready---Another downpour, **** this, I'm going home. 4 o'clock by this time. Get to the ferry terminal and call Mark. Guess what, there Racing!!!! What a waste of a whole day. I hate this ******* weather up here!!!!

That sucks! There is nothing worse than driving all the way there, then sitting there doing nothing all day. We need a track in Marysville...that's all there is to it!

You are the smart one. As of 7:30 we hadn't started eliminations.... so I left and Amy was almost an hour late to work... I got a total of two runs, left for the track at 5:30, home at 10:15...

Oh damn. Did they ever start eliminations? I left at 4:00 thinking if they did start running again it would be a mess like the rest of the day was. Sounds like I wasnt wrong. Not a good day at the track.

They started and we got slaughtered because the people who have lives had to go take care of them.

We REALLY need to cover this crap better. if we have been at the damn track for over 5 hours and elims have not started it is time to call the freaking race!

this is the EXACT reason I quit doing SCCA SOLO II races!

Man I wanted to stay after my results last week, but I had plans and just couldn't stay past 4 or 5 and it didn't look like we were going to be racing for awhile. How did it all end up. Did they actually finish all of the Eliminations? I heard one of the VW bugs rolled and that a guy from the ford drag team blew up his Tranny.

I couldn't agree more, I know everyone pays to go, but as our own little entity, we could call our own race and reschedule on a Bremerton test and tune night or have it on a another day.

On a side note, man there was an Awesome 3rd Gen out there running 11.40 at 120...What a car guy spent a lot of time on it!
Also the ole Camaro managed to squeeze another .10 and 1 mph out it 14.103 at 98.43 mph.

Have TJ look at your Random Misfire tables....set them ALL to 32767. We also set our low octane tables to the same as the high ones. And you might have a DS balance issue (or the bolts are too tight if you run a 1350 yoke)
