Default Good day, bad night...

Well, my '91 C4 did pretty well at the track... in full runs, it ran between 14.26 and 14.31 all day long. Consistent, and not as slow as I thought considering it's an L98 auto with 2.59 gears.

Made it to the 3rd round, then got knocked out by RC by .01 total package... it was a damn good race considering our dials were really close to each other!

Unfortunately, I was going to a friend's house last night and my alternator died... I noticed my volt meter was steadily going down, and all of a sudden the warning light indicating that the alternator is no longer charging the battery came on... I just made it to his driveway when my lights flickered and shut off, and the car sputtered and died.

So, this morning I went out and bought a new alternator and battery and replaced them... $200 later, the car is running perfectly again. Gah... such is life, I suppose.

Oh well, still had fun at the track... that's what counts.

Dude.........it could be so much worse. Remember when my power steering pump went out and I broke the new one when I got it and had to buy a second one?

BTW, make sure you take care of that paint job.........its amazingly clean for how old it is. Its in better shape than my 2000.

That was a bad day!

Yeah........he sold the old one and got this new 91'. I'm not a fan of C4's, but I actually liked that one. Its weird how that happens.

I didn't like the C6's when they first came out either, now I love them!

Congrats on the new Car Jason! It looks a lot nicer than the other one you had My car needed an opti when I first bought it, so I can definitely feel your pain. I hope you enjoy this one for years to come!

That was a nice car. I wish I knew who you were, as I wanted to talk vettes. But, I still can not put online names to faces, and have not been intro'ed to everyone. Great racing by the way, congrats. I have put 3 alternators, a reg, two batterys, two water pumps, two radiaters and 4 fan belts in my truck, I can't win with it.

From the sounds of it he goes through cars like most people go through socks.

Just kidding Tranzor! He must have realized that the Vette is an all around better car!

No ****... man, as the car was starting to die I was like "Gee, this is familiar."

But this time, it was the alternator that took out the battery... so it was more expensive.

I think your car has to keep you used to going home from the track with it broken.

Good to hear you got to make some runs with it and daym! Its got a great paint job for its age! Now you know what "little" mods you want in the future

A guy down the road has a late 80's C4, red, keeps it outside under the trees and rarely drives it. That just drives me nuts to see it parked outside all the time with weeds growing round it

Did you not have time to get the alt rebuilt? There is a place up in Lynnwood that does a great job with a core credit regardless of rebuild or new - turnaround is usually 24 hours for far less than new. I can never remember the name of the place but know where it is...if there is a next time I'll send you directions

Keep hitting it!
