Default Latest DOL scam...

Anyone purchase tabs in the recent past and notice the additional "weight fee" they are charging for cars now? Just renewed my GTO tabs yesterday and noticed the $10 fee, so I checked with the DOL and according to them there was a new weight fee schedule enacted early this year - basically anything weighing 0-4000lbs gets the $10 fee and then it escalates from there.
These Olympia ******** are going to have their $1000 tabs back before we know it...

Every time we vote down something the state makes money on, it comes back and bites us in the azz. Little bits at a time, next thing ya know where right back where we started, and our tax dollars pay for the people that do it to us.

All of them - it seems like it has been longer than just this year, because we had to pay it on the Camaro last year when we put tabs on it ...

I guess the truck and Vibe are under or something, it still cost the same to get 18 month tabs as the last time.
We also had to quit proving we aren't in the RTA anymore - they seemed to have figured that out after 10 years

Guess its time to search licensing to see what legislature pushed through while we were sleeping. I always wonder about their midnight sessions.......

Ellis, I'm Snohomish Co. - don't know the bounds. This is the first time I've run across it. When I renewed my Camaro tabs back in April I'm almost positive I didn't pay this fee, but who knows. They told me that it came into effect in January...

I just got the TA licsensed (SP? ) almost 4 months ago and didn't notice anything like that on there. Was for Steven's county though, remember we don't have emissions either too! Would imagine something like that would have been state wide imposed though.

I don't have to do emissions either, and I'm in King county.

ODBII test FTW... Nothing like their computer asking my computer "All your tests passed?" and responding "I got nothing to test, so.. uhh.. yeah!"

I had never seen it before either and I'm pretty sure that I didnt' pay it before, but maybe its just being phased in - who knows. The dol.gov website shows the $10 fee, but I initially assumed that it was for vehicles OVER 4000lbs. Now I know the GTO is fat, but its not over 4000lbs. This is why I called and was told that it was actually from 0-4000lbs. I think the fee schedule presented here leaves that ambiguous, but then what do I know... http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistr...l#registration

Also, this info from the Klickitat Co. website does note the 0-4000lb info. Breakdown of the $43.75 is $30 tabs , $3 filing fee, $0.75 service fee, and $10 weight fee. Of course this assumes no RTA or other BS.

Ok, here we go. Just found this on the wa.gov site and it explains it pretty thoroughly. Looks like it dates back to last year - damn, I'm behind the times...
