Default Wooo hoo, Pulled an Ellis

The track was kinda cold today. first thing staging Russell taps on my window, "I want you to take it easy", "sure ok". Well about the 330 mark all hell breaks loose, at about 100mph, and I am flying towards the center line, trying to drive through it of course. Well get it straightened out (no cross line by a couple inches), and now I am heading to the wall, hehehe. So, then I knew back off, trapped 82mph and 12.5 ET. Go to the booth and they say Russell wants to talk to you, and printed on my slip "SEE RUSSELL". He was cool and told me to ease up a bit, I said I would shut off 1 stage. Second pass, allmost as bad, called it a day. All the fast cars were slipping and sliding. Esoteric, said his run was a close to hitting the wall as he ever has. Wish someone had brought a video camera. Lots of people and a good time as allways.

Oh yea, the drive in the down pour on the freeway coming home with over inflated slicks was fun also. Seemed the slower I went the slicker it became, so why slow down?

Yep you got away with one. Might wanna wait for the temps to come back to 70 before trying it again. That seems to be the point where traction becomes a problem for me.

Too scary. My second pass was an 1/8th mile run after I watched Robert's last pass. Let's see, 13.5 at 62 mph in the 1/4.

I hope not. I would hate to see him go home angry and take it out on my car with a hammer.

Yea, the bigger the torque spike the tricker it was, however, the auto's fared a little better. I was running the 250rwhp jetting on the 1st pass, so torque was somewhere close to 700.

Sounds like I didn't miss much then huh???

I got my MSF card today so I can fly to the DMV Monday and get my motorcycle endorsement finally.

Since I'm an alaskan resident, I have to visit the DMV in person to get my endorsement. Isn't that some bullshit!!!

What kind of ET's did you run? Did you manage to get some sticky tires for your setup? And how much of a shot did you spray?

"100 shot"

100 Nitrous jet
150 Fuel jet

still on stock tyres, the M/T's should be in tomorrow

first run I was a smoke show
2nd run I eased out, (intended to be an N/A run)
shifted to 2nd like normal, shifted to 3rd,
looked over my shoulder, saw the MR2 turbo just off my rear fender,
and hit the arm switch

13.3 @ 113mph with a 2.15 60'

So you basically didn't spray!! You just sprayed at the end because the MR2 was creeping and you didn't want to have him pass?

When you get your new tires, they should help a bit. But when the track gets cold like that........it really makes it impossible to hook which means bad things for those of us who have all this power.

I'll be out soon, just got to get it back from Ellis. Then get the wideband installed and now I might be looking into some kind of nitrous controller. We'll see how things go.

Sounds like it could have been better. But even a bad day at the track is better than a good day at work.

Mark (blk Z06 that Ellis just worked on) and his dad in his yellow C5 were there also, but on street tires were having 60' traction issues. Both cars are putting down 435rwhp. A silver FRC also. At least no one piled up their car, and more cars were loose than I ever have seen.

Actually i wasn't having much prob getting out of the hole, 1.6x. The issue, imo, was the bald spots on the track starting at 330' mark. The track was wet, and they dried it out by pulling a rubber thing behind a tractor, and this pulled up the rubber and the bare asphalt was showing, and loose rubber, so a powerfull car was on an ice skating rink by 330 foot.

Krautburner, you should have come by and said hi. there were like a dozen blk GTOs out there so I didn't know which one was you.

Yea that run was CRAZY!

It was a good time. Wish the track was a bit better. only ran a 13.7 @ 103.5. Good times tho. Wish Tom got back with his goat after going to help his buddy move. But all in all a good day!

All I have to say is I WARNED all of you Do NOT hit the track till at least march.

I will keep taking stuff out of my car while I wait.

BTW YES I got beat by a 05- mostang...in my truck I am pretty sure he had to work for it alot harder then he thought he would I mean come on who would think a 7,500 Diesel would take you out of the hole and carry across the intersection and stick with you for half a block before you got in front of him
