Bought a 3rd boat...
Bought a 3rd boat... My buddy and I couldn't hold back on this $$ maker. It's a 1988 18' Barron (made by Lund I think). The boat is in great shape, no rips on the interior, and new lower merc outdrive a yr ago. Came with a perfect trailer for $800!! Why? The 3.0 4 cyl Merc has no compression in the middle 2 cylinders so it sounds like they are sharing compression due to a head gasket. I'm gonna pull the head today and see what the culpret(sp?) is. We should be able to fix and clean her up and then sell for $6000-$6500...
So now we also have a '84 Seaswirl '17 bowrider in my garage with a broken outdrive, brand new interior, and a new 4.3. As soon as we can get the outdrive fixed we'll sell it for $5K.
And our keeper which is the '19 ski boat. With both other boats sold we will be in this boat for nothing plus have extra cash!! Time to go pull that head...

Good deal man! Boats sure are fun...somebody mighta been ordering some stuff for his boat...should run in the mid 70's before too long here...need to put the t/a back together first tho, d'oh! Hows the interior project coming that you posted about a while ago?

Well I got the head off and it has a bad head gasket between #2 & #3 cylinders. Unfortuneately they must have ran it a long time like that because it carved a small valley on the deck of the block and has a small crack there and on the head side. Nothing that a machinist can't handle though...
And the interior is going good. Got most of the carpet cut and about to make all the new seat bases.
