07 NHRA Rule revisions I thought I'd share what I just copied out of the new rule book regarding fire suits, helmets & roll bars in case anyone was confused about what they need to have.
Fire suits
Sec 16 Geneneral Regs P 237
ET 7.5 - 9.99 3.2A/5
ET 10.0 - 11.49 3.2A/1
Sec 1A Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman (ET brackets) P25
10.0 - 13.99 all ET non OEM s/c'd turbo or NO2 cars with OEM firewall: Jacket meeting SFI 3.2A/1
7.5 - 9.99 front eng with open body or without firewall.....SFI 3.2A/15....doesn't apply
7.5 - 9.99 or any vehicle exceeding 135: jackets & pants SFI 3.2A/5 & gloves SFI 3.2A/1
9.99 & faster, any s/c'd or turbo car with alky SFI 3.2A/15, gloves & boots SFI 3.3/5
Helmets Sec 1 P24
Drivers running 13.99 & quicker Snell K98 (exp 2009), 2000 (exp 2012), 2005 (exp 2017). Snell 90 & 95 are expired.
Roll Cage / Bar
Sec 1A P20
Bar mandatory in all cars running 11.0 - 11.49, 11.0 - 13.49 for verts
Sec 1A P21
Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 or quicker or exceeding 135. In full bodied cars with unaltered firewall, floor & body (tubs permitted) running 10.0 - 10.99 bar permitted. Cars running 7.5 - 9.99 cage required & must have chassis inspected every 3 years by NHRA & get serialized sticker. Verts running 10.99 or quicker must have a cage....
