You have to see them in person. The even the guy I was with said the pictures of the Camaro don't do it justice. In person the Camaro looks so much better than the Challenger.

Yeah, I want to see them both but when the time comes it will come down to which one performs better and which one can handle more mods .

Looking at both of them I'm leaning towards the Camaro now, where before I thought the Challenger was better. Its *** end(camaro) is one hell of a lot meaner looking than the Challenger. Front end of the camaro also lookes meaner. The Challenger has a nice front end but the grill looks like they borrowed it from the Charger. The back end could be done better as well. I dont like that big light bar. It softens the appearance and makes it look like like a fat old ladies *** in an orange dress.
Now slap a Cuda back end on there and you might have something. The more that Challenger is around the more I appreaciate the hard lines on the Camaro. The Challenger is just to soft looking. Bring out a Cuda retro and lets see something.

The car to wait for will be the new CTS-V. It is going to be a real bad ***. Think E55/E63 slayer with a 7.0L.

I agree the next CTS-V will be a sweet ride but, there is a difference.

When you look in your rearview mirror and see a CTS-V it will say:
"You can move out of my way NOW thank you."

While the Camaro will say:
"You can get the **** out of my way or I'll run your *** over!"

I may be maturing but I'm still a Camaro kind of guy.

Before I get FLAMED...and I know you guys will...let me say this.

I am not just bashing here because it is a camaro, but the front of the damn thing looks like it ought to be in the chevron commercials... and the *** end...well I think it looks like ***

It looks like "cherish" but painted silver

The ? for you guys is how will they respond to mods? They look heavy...

I know, I could google and find out the specs, but too damn lazy at this point.

Will they beat a COBRA?

Regarding the Challenger word on the forums is that it is heavy. Somewhere around 4000 lbs.

As for the Camaro there is a lot of rumor and speculation. GM has stated in numerous interviews though that weight is a critical issue and everything is being done to keep it down. Speculation is that it will weigh no more than a well optioned 4th Gen. The only other statements that have been captured from GM are that the handles will be different and to paraphrase Bob Lutz the only way he can identify the concept from the production version is by looking at the door handles. Instead of Engineers dictating styling by the required mechanicals beneath the skin when going from concept to production they have been told that they have to engineer a functioning car that will work under the existing skin.

As for power output, at the risk of starting another pissing contest I don't think GM has to worry about outperforming the Cobra. Everything I can offer is only speculation but... you don't see Chevy's top motor resorting to FI for competitive power just yet. Granted the Blue Devil/ SS is going FI but their target isn't a Mustang but something with a little more visibility on the global automotive scene.

Thanks for the info, and not wanting a pissing contest either. I just like to give Mikie **** as we go back a ways.

If what I read is true, 400hp, and they weigh that much they wont even beat a stock COBRA...not that there are many of them around anymore

J/W, are you talking about a "terminator" or the GT-500. Because if it's the GT-500, then I wouldn't be so sure. A car that weighs that much, and has a 450 hp engine, come on. I know I said 450hp, "but wait they have 500 hp." Um, no they don't. A lot of dyno's I've seen have them making 370 ish to the wheels. So that would put them right about 450 fwhp. I love what Jeremy Clarkson said about them, "I wander if people like buying a 500 hp car, that really come with 450hp. Must be nice". I really see another 99 (at least I think it was 99) Cobra fiasco. So a 2 ton car with "500 hp" that really has 450, going up against a 3500lbs car with 400 real hp. Wonder who's going to win. Also, that 400 hp is just the Camaro SS, your forgetting the Z28, which will be the top model if everything keeps going like it is. And it's going to have well north of 450, possibly as high as 525 (if some rumors are true). Looks like the muscle cars wars are in full swing.

Hope I didn't start too much of a pissing match

Too much pissing? C'mon, what are we here for anyhow

But I do have to disagree, with pretty much all you said.

I want to see the numbers of what it runs bone stock, then I guess we can really start pissing.

Because we know the Terms were very much underated... so how can you say that it would hand a stock one its ***, it is just about as fat at a Term and prolly less HP in reality..

I gotta go take a leak...

Ken if the car is going to weigh as much as my T/A and have 90 more HP. It should easily run 12.60 to 12.90, right on par with an 03/04 Cobra. I went 13.17 in the T/A bone stock and 12.92 in the 01 Z28 bone stock, the 01-02 cars tend to be faster, better intake, better, cam, exhaust mandiflods. yada yada yada.

But it is simple if your car can run those numbers with 400 hp, why can't an F-body at the same weight with the same power do the same thing?
Did you miss math class Ken?

I have seen a lot of dyno's putting the IRS GTO's and Vette's at about 350 to the wheels, so that would put them right about 425 to the wheels, so they are right now par with the Terminator's. So if they weigh the same, then they should run the same. Also, your forgetting the Z28, they one that's rumored to be S/C'ed. That would be no contest. I do think it's kinda stupid to compare a base v8 model to a top of the line model. If the rumors are true, and I hope they are, why not compare the top models of each car?

2 things Michael

1. Yes, post up the damn pics...Please.

2. I agree with you and your math...I agree it "should" be right on par with the Terminators....my comment was due to the fact he said it would hand a Term his ***.. I don't believe that and from your post you don't either.

I guess we should ask chewy what he meant by "hand a term his ***" is that a bumper or half a car

depending on the actual numbers when they hit the streets, it could be just a drivers race...and you know I will win that one.

pics yo
