I appreciate all the input guys... It seems as though I have some thinking to do. I understand that the 302 has a lot of potential, but I still like the idea of dropping in something bigger. Maybe I should set my hp goal a little higher than 400.

If your current motor is worn, I would highly recommend a 351. They are much stronger. Just use the stock crank and rods to keep costs down. Forget the E bay engine, you can get better value for money for less risk. That motor was equipped with the cheapest pistons available. I'll tell you a story about piston failure sometime... Get a 351 block (they're cheap) and have it rebuilt by Waterhouse or another reputable company. Have them install some cheap forged pistons ($350). You can get some Edelbrock RPM heads for just under $1000. That combo will put you in the 11's. Then you can use the power adder of your choice. I recommend you think in terms of desired performance and not the vague, bench-racing "horsepower" goal.

The only somewhat active local forum for Ford is not drag racing oriented, and it has limited subscription. Ford owners are inceasingly divided into two camps: pushrod (old school) and cammer. There are good national SBF forums like Hardcore 5.0 and Corralnet.

Yours is the most active local forum.

Did that story involve dinner and a tow?

Decent advice esoteric, his only problem is that his desired performance goals are always changing, depends on who is beside him at the light

He just wants to be able to beat the FOCI at this point me thinks..

Sean, move your *** here and the boys in MACA will have you in the 10's
