Crappy b-day ok well my alternator decides to die on me in olympia and i live in tacoma near the mall!!!! It took me over 2 hours to get home tonight so about every 5-8 mins max i had to jump the car.... i hate life.... Anybody have an extra alt by any chance lol
Well autozone has them for 201 with a 10 doller core charge. lol. But that is autozone. You might be able to find them cheaper.
Why would you need a new battery? It should be fine. Unless its old or something.

well the battery completely crapped out.... i mean after 3 hrs of jumping it every 8-10 mins i dont think it will hold charge anymore
nah - your battery is just dead b/c it was running your car instead of the alt - once you put the alt on it and let it run for awhile you should be alright with the batt. you have.
Yeah, just go have it checked. after you are able to run it for a while. Or if you have a trickle charger, do that for awhile. and see then if you need to buy another one. Cause those alt's are not cheap. Did you buy the battery? and if so were at?

ya i would appreciate it ellis, how hard are they to swap out i have tools and jacks... I am assuming have to get it from underneath the car right?

ok ill def jump on that, ill go ahead and remove the alt before hand..... is it fairly easy to do just unbolt the bracket and disconnect the wires and replace? or is there more to it. AHHHHH from now on when i have everything removed it all gets replaced lol
Mine was a PITA when I removed it to do my motor mounts. I got it removed from the motor but couldn't figure out how to get it out of the car. I didn't try too hard but it definitely didn't just come right out. There just didn't seem to be enough room to get it past the swaybar.
Also don't just jump the car after you put the new alt. on. The alternator was never meant to fully charge a dead battery. I recommend charging the battery before you run your alternator.
