Interesting No-start problem
On my 02 Grand Prix today when I went to the gas station to get a pop an my way to lunch when I came out and tried to start my car it was completely dead, no nothing. I messed with the switch for a while and it started but stalled three or four times as soon as I let go of the key. On the fifth try I was getting a little irritated and when it started this time before letting go of the key gave it some gas and it stayed running. So I drove it to lunch and it started fine but when I got off work again it was dead. When I say dead I mean it lost all electrical power even locking up my radio with the security lock, the same thing would happen if I removed the battery. Anyway I could not even get the key to turn to the lock position in the switch and also could not pull it out of park even with the switch in the on position. Frustrated I decided to look under the hood and when I pulled the hood release the hood popped up to the safety position and "presto" everything lit up. I guess the vibration of the hood popping up jarred whatever it is that is causing problem.
So I drove it home and when I shut it off at home turned the ignition switch on just to check and the same thing happened, lost all power radio locked but this time when I turned the switch back on the second time I had power again. Of course it did I'm now at home..........
