I called him, It has a bent rod in it. I am talking with the wife right now.... lol. She drives 1hr to work everyday, and something like that will cut down on our gas bill, and she won't have to drive my car as much. lol.

Pretty much just lost the 2nd 3.4 in the Bird last week. Still runs but it doesn't sound healthy. Apparently there is a TSB about the noise the engine is making and it's related to the Camshaft. Something about the camshaft being hollow and warping causing one of two things. Complete failure of the camshaft or spinning of one or more of the cam bearings over time causing and oiling issue and subsequent cam failure. Sounds like a sticking lifter to me but that was the initial diagnosis. Going to get a quote for a rebuild and then go that route or buy another and drop it in. Either way I'll put an aftermarket cam into the next one.

i figured this could be a great car for an engine swap or even a drag car so you didnt have to beat on you good one, for anyone that is looking

4.3 uses a different PCM.

It has been a while since I worked on a 3.4L

I might be going and picking it up tonight.. Waiting for my wifes final decision.

He said it runs, it just has a bent rod, and making a bad noise. I will just go find a junk yard motor, and go from there.

I am going to try and get it reliable for as little as possible, and then beat on it for the next year or so as a daily driver.

I offered him 650.00 but he wouldnt take it. Said he won't go no lower than 725.00 so I am going to wait it out as long as I can, and offer him 650.00 again. Lol
