Went to the Dr.'s
Since it was sunny & 70* yesterday, Linda & I took the TA for a drive out to Ellis' house. The car seems to be running pretty good, starts & idles good, drives relatively smooth (like anything with a .610/.620" lift 240/250* duration 114* lobe separation cam can run smooth) so I figured it was time to start tuning the GO pedal.
On the way out there I knew I was getting some knock retard (KR) so I limited it to 5 psi of boost when I was playing. The car felt ok but was definitely not running right. So me & the Dr took it for a test drive & did a little tweaking on it.
Ellis got the KR to go away by pulling a bunch more timing at "tip-in", and I turned the meth pump on 1/2 volume to make it safe. (running 92 oct pump gas so very much boost could be a major problem) Since it only has about 250 miles on it (& pump gas) I only took it to ~10 psi of boost (60-70% throttle), but man does it feel spunky now!
On the drive home Linda & I found a remote stop sign & gave it a little test. In 1st gear from a 10 mph roll it spun bad & got wheel hop, so I shifted into 2nd & fish-tailed for about 50 ft, so I shifted into 3rd & hazed the tires @ 70mph. Linda just smiled. Once I get this thing broken in & the tune finished I think I might have a monster in the garage.
Thanks Ellis!
Cant wait to see what she's gonna do man, should roll out quite nicely.

One thing or another does seem to always be in the way on getting this car to the track. After I got it together & running I had issues getting the air inlet hat to fit so I could install an air filter. Then it was making it run again after I put leaded race gas in it at Turbo Tech. Next came the placement of the meth nozzle freezing the intake manifold.

But I am to the point now (if it will stop raining for a couple weeks & I can stay in town) that I can put some miles on it & work the tune out & go dyno it. Then all I need is to get the roll bar / cage welded in & I can go racing.

Well, I might want / need to stick a TH400 in it first. I think my SS4L60E's warranty is about to expire.
But yes, I am deliberatley taking my time.

My break-in was a half pass down the track - nothing broke so it was broke-in!
I oughta just have Ellis build the new tranny with a 2 step & trans brake & buy you a ticket so you can come up here & put the pig in the 8s for me and be done with it.....

I agree you might want to start looking at a tranny, no offense to ellis's awsome trannies but i think you are past the 4l60, i could be wrong but didn't ryan tear his up with alot lighter car.
I nudged him and he fell off the 4L60E
Either that or the vid's of my car and the ten sec time slip N/A
