That makes it 100lb more than a GTO, with 22 more hp, a beefier transmission, better brakes, 20" wheels, and factory 275 tires in back. All in all, that's not too bad.

It's still 300lb lighter than a Challenger with virtually the same power, better tires, and better fuel economy(plus a manual tranny choice).

And every single one of you can thank federal safety standards.... If you would not mind paying an extra 30-40K they could make it alot lighter

Ellis, I would believe this if you couldn't buy a bare bones BRAND NEW '09 Vette w/430HP weighing in at 3217#'s for under $41K!

Corvette starts at 46,950. The Camaro will probably start at half that.

This what they list at but you can buy one today for under $41K!

Maybe for a stripped down V6, not the V8....an LS3 powered 6 speed SS will be easily be mid 30's I bet......within $5K or $6K of the LS3 bare bones C6!

I'm right with John....C6 any day. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car but for me I'd rather have the C6.

There is a dealership in CA that had a new '08 that was a manual black/black car for $39,900 and they would gve you $500 in travel expenses for any Vette you make a deal on. Thats a great deal!!

AND A C6 seats two and not four. The new safety standards are here and unless you want to start paying for a four seat version I guess you are stuck.

Then again we looked at a SRT8 challenger this weekend. 4200Lbs with out your fat *** and $67.5k for the previledge of owning it.

You guys whine like little girls some times. If you can do so much better start your own factory and have at it

Trunk My wife doesn't ride up front unless she's been good that week or giving me road head. Actually we're married so we don't do that anymore...icky!

Hell, if you need to seat 4 then there is ONLY ONE choice....'09 CTS-V! It's only 4,200 lbs, will absolutely, positively rip the doors off the new Camaro SS by a FULL second in the quarter mile and rip past it on any road course as evidenced by it's 7:59 Nuremburg laptime. Nuf said!

While I wouldn't go for the V6 it is rated at 300HP. Not bad.

Exactly. That V6 is putting out as much as the LS4 in the Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP. It'll probably run a mid 14.

Heck, the first LS1s in 4th gens were "305"

Problem with the CTS-V is it's $70k sticker price.

After reading over all of that, I think I'd still take a G8 GXP.

**** the last year LS1 in Camaros only had 315 compared to the 300 that v6 is putting out. I agree with Ellis though. look at the competition. mustang 350z and challanger. it will beat them all no problem. and for much less dosh. and look at the style its sick!!vettes are in a different catagory.. besides who in here roles a STOCK car any damn ways. god made chevys for us to mod and spank the competition this is no excception IMO. ~Guy

ps: it does need to be lighter.
